keto_giggles's Journal, 07 December 2016

I haven't had sugar in 2 weeks! :-) I'm feeling great again. I had so many sugary snacks before getting back on track 2 weeks ago and I've been holding strong. I've been able to resist buying myself something sugary because "just one won't hurt". Except for the fact that "just one" turns into something every day, every day turns into twice a day, etc. Yesterday, I turned down peanut butter fudge and chocolate cake at work. Honestly, I would've been able to turn down the peanut butter fudge anyway because I'm not a HUGE peanut butter fan anyway. I'm sticking to my new keto macros and it's helped tremendously. My blood sugar level is down and my weight is down 3lbs since sticking to these new macros.

I have to just say, I read on someone else's post a comment that stated a high protein ketogenic diet is the way to go and they were recommending to cut out the fat. There's no such thing as a high protein, low fat ketogenic diet. Ketogenic is LOW carbs, HIGH fat and MODERATE protein.

I mentioned it in a previous journal entry but the macros I'm on right now are:
1455-1533 Calories
20g Carbs
70-80g Protein
122-130g Fat

So far, this change-up has been working for me. I'll keep these until I stall again.

The pictures below are this morning vs last December. A 22lb difference. I began eating Ketogenic this past March and that's when the weight began melting off. No more shin pain from inflammation. No more high cholesterol numbers. No more high triglyceride numbers. No more bloatedness. No more feeling tired. No more feeling crappy physically.

I went and had my teeth cleaned yesterday and the polishing paste they use is so sweet that I panicked because I swallowed some. I asked her if there was any sugar in the paste and she said no why would a dentist use sugar? Lol and I thought the same thing but I had to ask. For any sugar to pass my lips puts me back almost a week.

Fantastic! As a sugar addict, I know how hard it is to not eat the sugar. I did stop cold turkey for a year, and I felt wonderful, but recently slipped, so back on the horse for me too. You look amazing and happy! Keep it up, and thanks for the inspiration.

Ketogenic is the only way to go. Keep dropping the carbs until you finally lose weight. One lady posted she had to drop carbs down to 35 per day

Thanks everyone for the kind words! :-)

Dr. welby 😀 it sounds like that lady was doing it backwards. I started with under 20 as my goal. I'm still in induction but then will start the different rungs to ADD carbs back until you stop losing weight (got a long way to go). My carbs usually hit between 9-16g, most from veggies, fat about 80-95g & protein between 45-60g.
