Hermiones Mom's Journal, 05 June 2016

After six weeks of laziness, I'm getting back into my exercise routine again. The hiatus started when my allergies got so bad I couldn't breath. Then I had a 5-day out of town trip, and came home to take a steroid pack to try to get the allergies back under control, and by the time that was done, I'd developed the nagging pain in what I thought was my hip, except then it turned out to be a kidney stone. This past week, after the stone exited, I was so totally exhausted, I could barely get out of bed in the morning. I'm finally bouncing back. I took Carson to agility class on Thursday morning and Hermione to her agility class this morning. Tuesday night I start the annual obedience class with Carson -- he has to go once a year or he forgets who's in charge. And ice skating starts again on Thursday afternoon. So in between all this doggie-related activity, I'm going to try to get to the gym three times and do the 40-minute walk with the dogs at least three times. I think I'm going to try doing the long walk with the dogs mostly in the evening. With the days so long now, there's plenty of time to walk in the evening, and in the morning I often feel too rushed to do that long a walk. And there's something about an early evening walk that always appeals to me. I got new Merrell walking shoes yesterday. The old waterproof ones I've set aside for rainy day walks. The new ones are cooler and have all the support you get from new ones. Also, this week I should be able to resolve the issue of getting two ice skating boots in different sizes, so by the end of the month, I'll be able to take advantage of the noontime open skating session at the park district a couple times a week. Hooray.

Thanks for the support everyone. I feel like my energy levels are coming back. It's just after noon and I have 1) showered and dressed 2) walked 25 minutes with the dogs and made their meals 3)made breakfast for myself; 4) attended a staff mtg by phone for a client; 5) done two loads of laundry; and 6) cleaned out two drawers in my bedroom, one of which was the dreaded sock drawer. I have high hopes of packing up all the too-big giveaway clothes and making ice cream custard today, in addition to doing some client work and going to the gym. I figure if I keep busy I have to be burning calories, right?
