Top 100 free Kindle books

Seven hours of solid sleep, followed by two hours of drowsing while listening to podcasts.

Morning plank. Ten minutes on the Air Walk Trainer first thing in the morning to burn off glycogen.

Yesterday, I added a can of Rotel tomatoes and a package of crinkle cut carrots to the slow cooker of beans. The slow cooker did a good job of emulsifying the beans, far better than the pressure cooker. I'm off the diet for several days while I eat my way through that. I plan to get some freezer containers so I can freeze future bean batches and not have to eat everything over the course of several days.

The cast iron skillet arrived. As FullaBella notes, it is heavy. I can see a lot of uses for it, including baking bread, pizza, and pies. The Subscribe & Save shipment arrived a week earlier than promised, which is fine because I can get back to consuming nuts and fish on a regular basis. Two Jarrow whey protein containers arrived. The one I ordered before I ordered the Subscribe & Save wasn't supposed to arrive until tomorrow. The Subscribe & Save order wasn't supposed to arrive until October 6. That's OK, I'll eventually use both. The tablet holder doesn't fit on the Air Walk Trainer. Another inch of clearance and it would have worked. I'm not upset because it's solidly built and I'll be able to put it to use with another piece of equipment - possibly the stepper or rower.

I overdid the protein today. Will cut back to one scoop of protein powder tomorrow.

I bought an Android app, Hydro+ drink water, to remind me to hydrate.

Cardio: 1 1/2 hours on the Air Walk Trainer. Steps: 519.

Thank you, Chris. :) I learned that a few of the books might not be free because the time limit for getting it free has already expired, but the book is still in the top 100 list because it is popular. I think they change the top 100 every hour, so after an hour check again for new books that are new to the list since the book's that go up in price are gone.

What kind of beans? I use a pressure but then I like to keep my beans more whole especially as they will be cooked again; add a little extra time under pressure and they will disintegrate. Love cooking many things in cast iron, have a Dutch oven and flat top grill love both, miss my old iron skillets from former lives, keep watching for them at thrift stores and yard sales.

Your protein would have been fine if you did some rigorous exercises. Even then, it's still not too bad. I try not to exceed 30-40 grams per meal.

Deb, some free Kindles do expire quickly. I got a couple of DASH Diet books that normally sell for $3-4. When I went back to check, they were no longer free. After the initial rush of finding all those free books, I'm beginning to think I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel. As you say, you have to check back.

Deb, I've noticed a certain amount of repetition in the diet and recipe books, i.e. paleo slow cooker, meals in a mason jar, etc., etc. Some of the cookbooks are a little specialized. How many quinoa cookbooks do you want unless you're really into quinoa?

wholefoodnut, mixed beans. Back in the day,I used to make a vegetarian chili with kidney beans and textured vegetable protein using a recipe from "The New Farm Vegetarian Cookbook." I used a pressure cooker for the beans. More often than not, no matter how much water or time I used, the beans came out too crunchy or burned. The skilled I got was a ten-incher on sale for $15 instead of $25. Probably my next step will be a dutch oven and a flat top grill.

JGBOOGADES, I try to hit 56 grams, which is the recommended intake for someone like me.

Hi Chris, good for you getting cast iron skillets. I've used them for years, & also have a cast iron griddle. Used to have a Dutch Oven, but it somehow got lost in moving (or is in the garage & I can't find it, hee hee). They are very heavy, especially with stuff in them, but it's well worth it for the benefits. Here's a good article on the benefits of using cast iron cookware: http://www.eatingwell.com/healthy_cooking/healthy_cooking_101_basics_and_techniques/3_health_reasons_to_cook_with_cast_iron Have a great week! Thanks, GLAMMER. Unfortunately, FatSecret has an annoying glitch where links in comments are cut off. Wish they would fix.

I love cast iron, always watching for bargains for more. Chris was curious, as your beans sounded like they would be good with several different kinds. I rarely use the mixed beans anymore as each type has their own character and flavor in the mixed you lose that. I'm thinking pinto or pink beans for this.

wholefoodnut, the mixed beans were a manager's special at Kroger, a one-off. I've cooked a lot of kidney beans, some black beans, but hope to expand my repertoire to pinto and beyond.

Love mixed bean soups, they are so good. I've just experimented with different beans and they all are so good, I have a couple new to me ones in my pantry. However, I've never developed a tasted for black-eyed peas.

If you have questions about any of them holler at me, I'll do my best.

Just checked out the free Kindle page and saw the book, Natural Antibiotics & Antivirals: How to Strengthen Your Immune System & Fight Infection Naturally. Sounds good!

You might like the taste better if you add cumin to the black-eyed peas.
