It was another weekend of eating out at functions put together in my honor; I was on a 3 day tour of a region of my diocese where we have several churches that I oversee. There were pancakes, muffins, danish, eggs, bacon, sandwiches, roast beef, gravy, pies, ice cream, cake, etc etc all offered with love and in my honor. It is difficult t stay on the WOE when these events are food-focused and my hosts “go all out” for me. I ate sensibly, trying bites of a few things ( i.e.: pancakes, no syrup) and tried to stay with the fruit, salads and a little bit of lean meat or eggs. It worked out,( .6 loss since Friday) but it is hard. Our culture is so focused on food. It is a way to show respect, to honor guests and it is hard to refuse. When you think about it, the central act of my faith tradition ( Holy Communion) is focused on ... a meal. This week, my work-entertaining- eating out calendar is light. Still aiming to stay on the wagon until my August vacation. Not drinking helps a lot in the calorie department. Started a Couch to 5K program last week that was pretty humbling, considering that back in the day ( just 2 years ago) I ran miles and miles at a clip and had just finished my 5th marathon...
