Revaudrey's Journal, 11 July 2016

It was another weekend of eating out at functions put together in my honor; I was on a 3 day tour of a region of my diocese where we have several churches that I oversee.
There were pancakes, muffins, danish, eggs, bacon, sandwiches, roast beef, gravy, pies, ice cream, cake, etc etc all offered with love and in my honor. It is difficult t stay on the WOE when these events are food-focused and my hosts “go all out” for me.
I ate sensibly, trying bites of a few things ( i.e.: pancakes, no syrup) and tried to stay with the fruit, salads and a little bit of lean meat or eggs.
It worked out,( .6 loss since Friday) but it is hard. Our culture is so focused on food. It is a way to show respect, to honor guests and it is hard to refuse. When you think about it, the central act of my faith tradition ( Holy Communion) is focused on ... a meal.
This week, my work-entertaining- eating out calendar is light.
Still aiming to stay on the wagon until my August vacation. Not drinking helps a lot in the calorie department.
Started a Couch to 5K program last week that was pretty humbling, considering that back in the day ( just 2 years ago) I ran miles and miles at a clip and had just finished my 5th marathon...

You're right....so many social events center around sharing food. All we can do is make the best choices we can, and do 'damage control' in between. You're doing great!
