LadyinDenim's Journal, 06 July 2016

Day 3 of fast and around 3:00 p.m. (I guess hour 68), I felt tired, so I went to lay down. I couldn't sleep because I was freezing. I laid there under two blankets for 15 minutes or so hoping I would warm up but never did.

I decided to sit out in the sun for a bit and that worked fine.

I've been voiding throughout the day and this morning 💩, so all systems are flushing just fine. ☺

Not tired anymore and not hungry.

Actually feeling cold like that is your body telling you that you are vitamin D deficient and to literally (Go sit in the sun). I wonder if people understand that actually? A lot of people mistake it as low iron or anemia. Just go out into the sun. If you keep a plant in the house our of the sunlight, it dies. We also need sunlight to synthesize Vitamin D. We cant get D any other way. And the food based supplements are only a twinkle compared to the real deal. So people need to act like a green plant. Go outside and take off your shit then throw your arms up in the air for about 5 to ten minutes a day if they can. Ladies, feel free to wear a tank top or sports bra. lol Not that us guys would mind of course, but local law may frown on it. lol.

Lol I actually meant to type ShiRt. Oddly enough, I feel strange when I use foul language now. Hmmm, it never used to bug me.

I need to stay occupied. I am not hungry, but have food fantasies. All the worst binges I ever had are running through my mind like memories of old lovers.

I know what you mean! I see pints of Ben & Jerry's and cream filled donuts. Not as much as I did, but they're still there sometimes.

Please forgive me if I offend with this question, but have you checked your blood sugar levels recently? The symptoms that you have described sounds a lot like hypoglycemia, which can have serious repercussions. I wish you continued success with your weight loss journey.

My body is converting fat to glucose, not worried about low blood sugar. Also, liw blood sugar is correlated wkth grogginess and mental confusion. I'm alert as a newborn at midnight! I'm more concerned that I can't sleep. Wide awake at 1:30 a.m.

I see! I was concerned because my nephew had similar symptoms, particularly the extreme chilliness, and had to be hospitalized for hypo. It is wonderful to know that you feel so alert and energetic. I too was up almost all night, and still woke up early this morning feeling fine and ready for the day ahead. I must head off to work now. Have a great day.

During my fast yesterday, I went outside my office and talked to the security guard for 10 minutes in the sun and got plenty warm. I wrapped up that visit outside with a 40 minute 3.5 mph walk. That calculated speed was based on the distance I went.

@delede, thanks. I knew you were speaking from a caring place. How is nephew doing now? @chesgreen, were you feeling chilled prior to going outside? How long do you intend to fast?

Right, Lady. Your sugars may drop a LITTLE low for just a minute, but (in a healthy person) your body will catch it & protect it. I always seem to need less sleep and have a lot of energy with high ketone levels, but give me a bowl of sugar & I could sleep all night & day. The insomnia will likely subside once your body gets used to burning the ketones, but you will likely still need less sleep & keep the energy. :)

Yes I felt chilled. I had intended to do a 3 day but didn't drink enough fluids to keep my mind off food (I had extended meetings in the office that prevented me from upping my fluid intake which is how I successfully completed multiday fasts in the past).

I have a failsafe tool that I purchased from flylady.net. Is is a 32 oz. Stainless steel water bottle that keeps ice frozen for 24 hours. I bought the companion straw drinking lid and I always have my ice cold water with me. I loop my pinky in the lid and tote it everywhere. It has become socially acceptable to tote around water bottles.
