redgirl1974's Journal, 18 January 2016

read this today. it was in an article about staying motivated.. I know a lot of us are struggling after the holidays to re find out mojo so I wanted to share this.

When your alarm goes off at 5am, YOU need to get up. When you’re only 10 min into cardio and you feel like you’re going to die, YOU need to keep going. When you’re at a social event and everyone is drinking or feasting, YOU need to make good choices. When you’re craving a pizza or ice cream, YOU need to remain strong. If you don’t do it for YOU, there’s really no sense to it all. Excuses won’t bring you to the finish line. Nor will self-pity, or regrets on past failures. Venture forward and work to win. We must remain persistent, stay consistent, and be stubborn as hell to jump the hurdles of challenge that life throws at us.

This morning I won. I passed on the donuts, cinnamon rolls and candy and gleefully ate my own deliciously & colorfully quiona salald & brought trays of veggies n dip, turkey/ham slices and crackers, cheese and grapes as a healthy alternative for our baseball club party today. The veggie platter was barely touched, although greatly appreciated by knowing parents. We need to re-educate our youth. Surely they will jump through the hurdles that health will throw at them too. Thanks for you well said exhortation!
