RoseFlorida's Journal, 26 August 2015

My mom just called and she wants to take me and my son out for dinner tonight (hubby is busy tonight). Ugh, burger monger. A restaurant that does not put nutrition information out for you to find online. I tried to get her to take just my son but no. I wish she didn't (and my son with her) eat so much crap food. I checked out their menu online and I think I can eat the BLT salad. If they hidden valley ranch dressing the carbs won't be too bad and romaine lettuce may not be as healthy as my 50/50 blend but at least it's something. I'm sure my mom and son will both have burgers, fries, and milkshakes tonight. I can't even say no, it's her birthday today.

The BLT salad will be fine. Salads are pretty much all I eat when I'm out with either blue cheese or ranch. Have a fun evening

Eating out is so hard...but we must try to be flexible. You could eat a bunless burger with cheese (protein and fat) and then a side salad with dressing (carbs and fat) perhaps that could work for you.

I noticed you sometimes take the GNC CLA. wondering if you noticed anything? I took 2 bottles worth-2 am/2 pm and was never sure if they helped or not. I haven't taken any for a month or so....

I didn't notice a difference yet but I take a few different vitamins and supplements. I do forget to log them most days. The only things I forget to log in my food are those. It may be helping or it may not. I know it's not making weight loss worse so....

Okey Dokey...obviously your Mom can eat whatever she wants but correct me if I'm wrong...your son is not the adult and he had his birthday bash last weekend right. Tonight insist he eat a little healthier! If Mom complains tell her you don't have to go and you might be surprised that when she see you are firm she will back down. I have a mother that I adore but for some odd reason she thought she gave birth to my children and then could therefore over rule my decisions. All it took was standing up and refusing to capitulate and she changed her tune pretty fast. Stick to your guns Rose and yeah, bring your own salad dressing! I'll be praying for you tonight.

I think eating out is something most of us have to learn to deal with. Most restaurants serve massive portions of the wrong kind of food. Protein and salad or veg is the best bet, and watch out for sauces and dressings. My hardest thing is resisting dessert. I sometimes order a diet coke at that point, dreadful stuff really, but it's sweet and no calories. Good luck!

Please do not criticize me about my mother right now. There is more to the picture then I have posted. I will say my father passed away less than a year ago and his birthday would have been Friday, the day before my son's and only a few days before my mom's birthday (today). This is her first birthday without him and I will kiss her butt right now if she needs it (or kick it if needed) I could not let her be alone tonight. Other days I push back but today no. I can NOT recommend Burger Monger. I researched the menu, no where did the BLT salad say it was drowning in balsamic vinegar. I took one bite and I was almost sick. They coated it and then coated it some more. I did get another one made without it and they said well they decided to change it after they posted the ingredients online. Seriously? It takes almost no time to update that and to leave it out was not good at all. I didn't bring my own dressing because it was only supposed to be what I would have brought with me. I'm not impressed by their over priced burgers, they usually compact them too much and dry them out by pressing down on them. A regular size burger with swiss and bacon cost over 9 bucks. My salad was 8 - that was huge though. If my mom didn't want to go there and treat I wouldn't have gone. No where on the menu or posted in the place was what was in it either. I only got water with my salad, no soda. I did put in a lemon wedge. I need to update my food log yet and include my peanut butter cups, chocolate and TOM do mix. Thank you Reese's for sugar free peanut butter cups with fiber.

Sounds like you did a good job with what was offered. Maybe ask for the dressing on the side next time. Did your son enjoy it?

It didn't seem to me that she was criticizing your mom but rather trying to help you.
