RoseFlorida's Journal, 10 August 2015

Married today for 19 years and for my anniversary I got to go to Blake HS and be bored for 2 1/2 hrs. Parent information meeting but everything they went over I already knew or could find online. Ugh. Open house is 8/20 and we FINALLY get the supply list. I'm so glad they wait so nothing is on sale and most of the stuff is gone. We had the same problem at Progress though is it's not uncommon. I'm really glad my son got into Blake and hopefully he'll continue to be excited by the program he's going for - Writing. (He got in for guitar, writing, and the IB program at another school)
Today was a day and I missed most of my meals. Thank you mom for showing up and dragging me out at lunch time yet again and then stopping at steak and shake for a milkshake I can not drink. I love my mom but I NEED a small break from her. I have been there for her almost every day since my dad passed in September but it's starting to really wear me down. I need to have some time for me that I am just not getting and things I need to do are slipping away and not getting done. My plans are constantly disrupted and even when I tell her I need some time for myself she shows up at my house. I need to find something she wants to do and encourage to do it. I can not be her almost only life. It is not healthy for her or me. So far she has shot down everything I have suggested. I love her a lot and want to see her happier than she has been.

You are a good person, just do your best. Maybe she will meet some new friends if you can involve her in a community of some sort...senior center, church, a club. Just take her there someday - maybe if you go with her the first time she will go back on her own?

You should work off this years school supply list for next year. At the very least you can pick up the majority of the stuff while it's in stock and on sale.

I would but it's a new school with different classes. I picked up some stuff on sale but if they require a 3" binder in a certain color it would be hard to buy on sale. (They did that last year to me and to my sis-in-law this year, I found her the green one she needed) One teacher required a certain brand of notebook (The most expensive stinkin' one of course - 2 needed just for her) and others required certain types of folders, 3 different types needed. I can't afford to stockpile just in case he might need it. I guess I can buy and then return what isn't needed but I hate doing that.

Please tell me this is a private school. No way is a public school telling me a brand I must buy.
