So many things have been going on in my family. I can usually deal pretty well with it, like my Aunt being in the hospital. However today my Mom arrives (at my Gram's 45 minutes away and that is a whole long story that I won't go into now (besides saying she has some major mental/life issues that at any moment could be my fault) anyway last night 3 times I woke up with a panic attack and had to pray to get back to sleep. I really don't understand how you can be asleep and have that happen but whatever. So I am taking the route of making sure that I get enough exercise to wear down my nerves so I am not strung so tight. If you are a praying person I could use your prayers this next week. Not sure how long Mom is visiting, I am hoping it will be a good visit as we had a nice conversation this afternoon. (And yes I seek help with my Pastor about this issue) I am holding out hope. Also my hubby should be back from camping any minute, I sure have missed him!

You are not to blame for anyone's issues - I assume mom likes to make her issues your fault...use imagery to distract whenever the panic sensation happens. Breathe and imagine yourself in a place you love. See it in your mind's eye, smell the smells, hear the sounds, feel the air around you. The amygdala in the brain is the "danger" mechanism. You can "fool" it into believing you are safe in the moment. The brain doesn't really know whether you are imagining the place you love or really are there.

I have recently found that the deep yoga breathing helps me calm down - mentally and physically. You might look into some relaxation yoga - just a thought. In any event, my prayers are with you this week - peace be with you...
