JennBuck61's Journal, 15 March 2015

Another day, and another pound gone. 202 lbs today. As I was stepping on the scale this morning I started thinking about my weighing routine. When I started this journey back in 2013 I weighed every day but I stopped in the latter part of 2014 - I was becoming obsessive about it. When I stopped other things fell apart as well - overeating being the issue here. So then I moved to at least once weekly and told myself that this was enough to keep my obsessive weighing at bay. But as I started IF again, I was curious to see the daily changes so I started the daily again. So now I am thinking of a middle of the road compromise on my weigh-in. Maybe 2 times weekly? Once per week? I am trying to figure out the best strategy for that. Also, I need to include the measuring component - since we all know that the scale is not the key measure for our changing bodies as we go through this journey. I will figure it out.

I've also decided to add an at home workout DVD to the mix. I've heard many people talk about the 30 day shred (Jillian Michaels) but I've only been brave enough to try some of her tamer DVDs. However, with maelynpeacock talking about it again and a request from my daughter that we do a fitness plan together, I am going to buy it today and start working out with Ms Jillian Michaels and my daughter!

Today I plan to do some research for my job (I need to come up with some articles so that we can post 2-3 per week on our company website). I also need to put a formal budget together for my home- I use to do that and then I stopped so I need to get back to it. My daughter leaves for university in another 2 years and I need to squirrel away $$$ just in case she doesn't get all the scholarships she is hoping to receive. My family already has registered education savings accounts for her (and my youngest) but her top 2 universities of choice are two of the most expensive in Canada, with one being out of province/state. She will spend approximately 9 years in higher learning before getting her doctorate. Prayers and fingers crossed that her focus and results so far continues!

Ok, so I am bulletproofed for the day now. Have a great day all and be golden....

have a terrific Sunday Jenn. I decided awhile ago that I jump on the scale most mornings, only record an average for the week, I don't get upset with little ups and downs as they average out. It works for me. This week not even concerned until I'm off the prednisone, it is not nice to one's weight.

WFN: I like that idea of weighing most mornings but recording an average for the week .. hmmmm! I try not to react to the changes (or lack thereof) on the scale. Best for my mental state! LOL.

Nice - I used DVDs at home at first and Jillian helped me lose 50 pounds!

Although daily weighing seems obsessive, IF you take into account how your weight can fluctuate, It can be a useful tool. When I stopped stepping on the scale is when I started gaining again...Kinda like out of sight/out of mind...Do what seems to work for you and Good luck! I also agree an average for the week seems most accurate.

I used to record my weight once a week but now I am weighing everyday since I got my Tanita scale. I have a notebook where I keep all the data. It is an excellent way to look back on my lifestyle during the times of lower weight. When the scales aren't moving, get out your measuring tape and see if you made progress that way for the month.
