Greetings, my FS buddies!
So, after a week of active recovery from my half-marathon last weekend, (I somehow managed to log 30 more miles on my running shoes this past week!) I have my next workout plan to get me through the rest of the calendar year and into late January. I'm restarting P90X and adding some shorter runs 3 days a week and one long Sunday run so I don't lose the progress I've made on my speed and endurance while I build a little more muscle. You might be asking, "Why would someone who's studying to become a trainer do P90X?" Well, I'm doing it because that will be one less thing I have to plan each day. It's almost like a "microwaveable meal" of a workout. I just slip it into the microwave/DVD player and press cook/play. It's ready-made with no planning or prep required! Juggling my studies, spending quality time with the Sig-O, planning my business, building a website, starting to film a documentary, curating my recipes for a cookbook, preparing all of our meals from scratch, AND finding time to workout hasn't been easy. So, if I can just slide in a DVD and not worry about strategically planning my next workout, I'm all for the simplicity!

I also went to a farmer's stand this weekend and purchased a BUSHEL of butternut squash! What was I thinking?? Oh well, it's a good thing the Sig-O and I like soup!

Hope you're all having a spectacular week!

I'm on a huge soup kick right now too...I have never tried butternut squash though, I've been eyeballing it...maybe later in the week :)

you have a lot on your plate, for sure ... P90X seems like a good choice for time management. Have a great week.

Just don't be a fool like me and buy an entire bushel of it! Fortunately, it stores really well in a cool, dry place. I've had butternut squash survive all winter and spring in my basement! I even just used the last one I bought last October and still have some in the freezer!

Does it hold pretty well frozen?

A bushel is quite a bit! The only thing I make from it is soup. I don't like to carve up fresh squash, so I actually buy the chunks from trader joe's. Good luck with all of it. I think it's great that you can I'll be starting p90 again. Your life is so full. Just cooking everything from scratch would overwhelm me. You are definitely an inspiration to me and I look forward to reading your posts. Thanks!

It freezes well enough to use it in soup, but I've never used it out of the freezer for anything else but soup, so I don't know if it's usable for much else. I found a curried butternut squash and cauliflower soup recipe I'm dying to try, or maybe I'll make my Kashmir garam masala, butternut squash, carrot and sweet potato with red split lentil soup! Maybe I'll be able to squeeze in making a batch this week because this next weekend is supposed to be kind of chilly here and would be perfect soup weather! Yes, buying the ready-prepped chunks is so much easier, but you don't get to eat the seeds if you buy the chunks! I like to air-dry the seeds and eat them raw as snacks instead of roasting them. Oh, and I also need to find time this week to carve a pumpkin! I always make intricate designs and haven't spent much time planning what I want to carve. Ugh. So much to do, so little time!

Awesome - planning is the key. Did you ever think you would be doing ALL of this now? Fantastic isn't it?

Well HCB, considering that this time last year, I was only a few credits shy of completing my grad program in becoming a winemaker, and now, I'm in the process of launching a health-coaching business, I guess it's pretty safe to say I never thought I'd be doing all of these projects! Nor, would I think turning 40 would have been so rewarding and satisfying. Oh, what a difference a year can make!

Sweet I just completed P90X great workouts. and if you are going to become a trainer there is some good stuff you can take away from.

Yes, they're decent workouts. This past summer, I completed Phase 1 & 2 right before I started my half-marathon training plan, but decided to stop and focus on just my running and running-specific strength training for time management reasons. I'm sure, by the time I'm done with it in 13 weeks, I'll be a bullet-proof beast! :)

I think you already are a bullet proof beast this will just make you more awesome :)
