Socolova's Journal, 24 September 2014

I just saw a picture of a little kid eating birthday cake with tons of white and blue frosting and I thought to myself "I would KILL for a piece of that cake!" I literally thought those exact words.....shame on me!

I seem to be stuck right at 170ish, which is ok...it's better than the 195 last time I got a physical. I had a few days in the last week I wouldn't say I'm proud of, but I like to unwind at social events so I won't complain about/regret it. I am doing well this week (lots of fresh veggies yummmm!), riding my new spinning bike a little before work and a little after work, also have been going out of my way to walk around throughout the work day. These desk jobs are hard to keep your blood pumping right??! I will tell you all though, my butt hurts. I added a gel seat and fluffy blanket to the bike seat, those are helping....but I did buy padded shorts! OMG you have to Google these things, they just look ridiculous! But, if they're gonna keep me on that bike longer, than so be it!(Seriously, Google it lol)

Other than that, 3 days until vacation! Super pumped, it's going to be GORGEOUS at the cabin...I love fall!!! That ALSO means our one year anniversary is right around the corner, it's actually Monday to be exact. Doesn't feel like a year already, so weird! It still sounds awkward when I say my name, but it sounds awkward with my maiden name too....Last Name Limbo, I shall call it!

Hope you are all doing well on your journeys, lots of good losses today, congrats! Happy Hump Day!! :)

there is no shame in thinking death to a small child with cake, actually doing it is different! Have a look online I used to go to a ladies only gym and they had flat seats on 3 of the spin bikes for generous ladies and they were great. By generous I mean when I was 40kg lighter groan!! Enjoy yopur anniversary!!

It's really strange but sometimes I only have to smell the item and I'm all better. I've also had moments where the reality completely does not live up to the thoughts. Believe it or not, in the past I've actually taken a bite of something like that and instantly regretted it and spit it out. I've realized two things, it's not as good as I thought, and simply getting the taste of something was all I needed. It can't be just me? :)

I used to ride my bike a lot. My best purchase was a padded underwear...that way I could just wear them under normal shorts instead of 'biking shorts'. Or, look at mountain biking padded shorts...way cooler than padded bike 'tighties' (IMO). Congrats on the anniversary! Have a great time at the cabin! I've been married for almost 13 years now...and I still have to take my time spelling my last name. (But, in my defense, it's one of those solid German last names...8 letters and 1 vowel??? - Come on???)

I think I would take pleasure in watching someone squirm while trying to pronounce a not so common name. :) You get all that extra attention. If it was a one syllable word on a roster like Smith, or Jones, they would just fly right by that name, but when they get to yours they have to pause and think about it. Think about it. I don't know about padded shorts or tights, I'm thinking it would look like some kind of giant hemmorhoid back there. LOL! I have put one of those contoured gel cushions on my bike seat and it really helped though. I'm with Mcarthey, sometimes that first bite doesn't live up to the anticipation. However, I'm in real danger if it does. I'm sending you an early Happy Anniversary wish, and hoping your stay in the cabin "does" live up to your expectations!

OK, so this sounds really backwards, but it honestly works...to help break off of a weight plateau, take a couple of days off from the diet and eat! I'm not talking about going crazy, here...what happens is the caveman biological body response kicks in and says "Hey, I've got plenty of food in my area! I can afford to use the fat! There is no famine!". Just a few days, then back to stricter eating habits, and body is tricked back into believing it is OK to burn off the fat, and you start to lose weight again. We are, unfortunately, stuck with bodies that still hold on to their caveman logic...

Oh yeah, no worries...that's why I was stuck, I had a weekend that wasn't as strict so I just kinda stuck there....now it's starting to come off again...every 10 days or so I try to have a day or two of higher intake, thanks for the tip!!!

Twahlhowe has it right. Another idea is to simply modify your macros a bit. I find that my keeping my dietary fat intake higher I don't suffer the plateaus. Your body becomes more "fat adapted" and takes on the preference of burning the fat for energy. As an added bonus I also don't suffer the insulin spikes and crashes so my mood and energy is more consistent. :)
