Don't know what is going on but I am gaining like there is no tomorrow. I was not eating out, or drinking or eating anything special still the weight is going up. I need to start logging daily again. "Mindful" eating and portion control don't work anymore. So frustrating. Every time it starts happening I ask myself why did I wait until I gained 10 lb before I started realizing that I was gaining. But may be I just cannot do it. I do not get it. I do not understand why I eat same food for 2 months and remain at stable weight and then next month start gaining 2 lb per week with the same regiment. I understand the part that we tend to underestimate how much we eat. But I do not even log or account for exercise. Last weekend we went hiking on our favorite trail and I mapped the trail. It turned out that it is actually between 6.25 to 7 miles walk depending on where we park the car. I always thought it was just around 5 miles if not less. So how come eating 200 calories more than I thought results in weight gain and walking 2 miles more than I thought on regular basis does not count. So the question is - when I lose weight, is it because I am more diligent or just because I am on losing part of cycle, vs gaining part of the cycle when nothing works. I know from previous experiences that if I push for weightloss while "gaining" I will just get sick or injured which will make me put my effort on hold. OK, I did it before, I will do it again. We are going down.

I think it has something to do with being diligent. If you are not tracking then it's possible you are eating more than you think. A nibble here, a taste there all add up. It's my biggest downfall. I have to be stringent and track every bite. When I don't, it creeps up on the scale.

Да просто ходить 3 часа со скоростью 3 км/ч это не сжигание калорий, подсчет калорий это хорошо, но физическую активность надо увеличивать

Wow, I can read Russian. That is so Sci Fi now with all the internet tools. Thank you all for incouragement, I need it. I need to push myself harder. Which I did for a whole day today :) I need to start logging food daily again. No excuses. I do not track my exercise on FS. I use other tools and do not really care about how much I burn, i.e. I do not add these calories back to allowance. My thinking is that you cannot compensate for overeating and sedentary lifestyle by going to a gym for an hour. So I exercise regularly but for health and good mood, not for weight loss. Any extra I burn is my gift to myself, but I do not eat calories back. I do track most of my walking, as I do it more for stress relief than for work out. So I want to know when I had time to do it and when I skipped. I do walk near the office during weekdays if I have a break. On the weekdays it is mostly different. We go hiking on the trails, mostly though not always in the hills. So a 7 mile walk on a steep terrain is a strenous exercise. Based on my other app that I used to map the trail and elevation I burned ~ 900 calories. Not that bad. FS does not calculate the burn correctly as it does not account for real speed and elevation.
