Gray rainy Thursday here.......

Yesterday was fairly interesting, to say the least!!! Our power steering pump went blooie on Tuesday night, with all the parts stores closed. Well, the hubby gets up, calls off work, and proceeds to repair the car with the help of our neighbor up the street. The parts store gives them the new pump, without the flywheel attached. They say thats the way they come, and their store doesn't have that flywheel. Hmpf.

So, the go to the other store on the other side of town, and get the flywheel. You can't put it on the pump with a hammer...(poor guys!!) soooo, its off to the neighbors friends garage, where they put said wheel on pump. They get back....now they have the wrong belt!!! Sooo.....off to the store again, to get the right one!!

Needless to say, they finally got it fixed around 1:00 pm!! Thank you Lord!!! We load up all the goodies we bought for the surprise party for the In-laws, and head out!! We had to make a little detour to pick up a friend. The party was really nice!!! And I behaved, and stayed well within my caloric range!! And I never once ate a cheese ball or nacho chip!!!

My sister in law made cabbage rolls that were awesome!!! It really was a nice party for the hubbys mom and dad!! They have been married 60 years!! I think they are one of the few that I know that have been married that long!! There was a lot of food there, and I could have easily said oh well, and dug in like a little piggy!!! Nope!!! I still ate well, but I knew what I could have and what would cause me grief!!

I just put the food aside and enjoyed myself, and got to see and hold the newest members of the family!!! My niece was there with her son Aiden who is only 2 wks old, and I got to see and hold Mason who is only a month old!! We are still waiting on new addition #3!!

I hope everyone had a good Wednesday, and I hope you have a great Thursday!! I'm stuck inside today, its really pouring out there at the moment!! Keep your diet battles raging!! I'll be right here if you need support!!!

OMG ... car troubles! Can you tell me about the cabbage rolls? DH has been wanting some and I just don't know why but I need a good recipe recommendation.

Bella, I'll try to get a recipe from the sister in law. I don't really measure when I make cabbage rolls, or stuffed peppers. I just get about a pound to 2 pounds gr chuck, and add some salt and pepper. I cook about 2 cups of rice, and add that to the beef. mix well. then get a head of cabbage, remove the core, boil it for 3 minutes, then let cool. remove a leaf of cabbage, add about 2 to 3 tablespoons (guessing) to the core end of the leaf, fold in both sides an roll up. place in a roasting pan or dutch oven. with the loose end down. When your roaster is full (or dutch oven) , pour a can of tomato sauce over it all, and add some juice, (1 1/2 C?) cover and bake in a 350 degree oven for an hour to two hour or until the meat is done. You can make them on top of the stove in the dutch oven, Same amount of sauce and juice, add salt and pepper to taste, then bring to a boil, lower heat to a simmer and let simmer for an hour to hour and a half, till centers are done. I like to add sauerkraut on top. Hope that helps his craving!!

Kitten it sounds fantastic and just about how I was planning to 'wing' it so I feel confident I'm on track. I was probably going to add some onion to the ground chuck / rice mix but other than that yeah, sounds good. Thanks!

Oh yes that sounds so yummy. What a shame that eating cabbage gives me stomach pain for 3 days. I was forced to give it up, just like many other foods. Lu so happy to hear you had a good time and didn't overeat. Proud of you.
