Question: How many weeks does it take for fluid accumulated from surgery to be re-absorbed from the surgical site? Yeah, it's slowly going down, but I'd really like to get back in my pants now (not that sweatpants are entirely uncomfortable). Surgeon told me weight gained post-operatively because of this procedure would take "time" to leave the area(s)... scared to step on the scale.Thoughts?

It took that fluid a long time to be reabsorbed when my wife had that surgery done...to include having to have it drained a few times initially...it just takes the time it takes.

From371, are you still wearing compression at least part of the time? That would likely speed re-absorption if the fluid. Also, maybe try gentle dry brushing, it improves circulation.

From all the surgery show that I have seen, it can take up to a couple of months or so, but every body is different. Hope you can fit into your pants soon.

Give it another week. Then reevaluate. You’ve been so patient—just keep on with your life and give your body time to heal itself. There is NO point in feeling bad because of water weight💦.

I have had two C-sections, and I leave the hospital still looking like pregnant, with my feet, whole body swollen post surgery, it will take you a few weeks - one month or so. Take care of yourself and be patient.

How are you feeling? How is recovery? I’m 3WPO and weight the same as I did going in... Supposedly 13lb skin was removed 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I wear same size clothes as pre surgery they just fit better. I can’t say I’ve eaten really well or tracked... slowly getting back to my routines after a 12 day work stretch... I feel swollen and started dry brushing today after doing some research on the lymphatic system...

@tahoebeun, @dhatura, @Tash23 and @jenjabba - thanks for the perspective; @gz9gjg - yes, still wearing it religiously, and I've been scratching (versus brushing) on the outside of the compression garment; @Keilin_4 - thanks, I will... I'm amazed at how many ladies at work told me this type of surgery is as close to having a C-section as any guy will get 😆 ; @Swedishblondie - at 2.5 wks post-op, I feel pretty good (slow with periodic soreness) and am off even the Tylenol, just little or no energy to do even the simplest chores (rake a small spot around back door earlier, and had to take a two hour nap!)

There is a web site realself.com, where people review procedures, ask questions, and also blog about with whatever surgery/procedure they have undergone or have been thinking about. It may be worth a look, seeing what other people have experianced similar procedures.
