Making progress. Slow but steady. I was actually surprised I had dropped over the past couple of weeks, probably due to having been so busy with mowing and preparing and planting the gardens. Plenty more to do. Just trying to be a little smarter when I do eat. No time for snacking.

Nothing earth shattering, but considering the kids birthdays, our birthdays and anniversary this month, I feel I have done surprisingly well. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Toodles!

losing 1.1 lb a week

The saga continues, but so does the learning. I got up to 285 pounds again, and now I’m back down to 264. I still can’t pull the trigger to totally make the switch to a Whole Foods Plant Based diet, but I have cut way back on my red meat and simple sugars consumption. And believe it or not, nothing changed until I started doing at least 15 minutes of strength training everyday. That kicked in whatever metabolic process was needs to get the furnace going.
I started a combination of 16/8 intermittent fasting and Total Gym workouts on Feb 5th. It has been my most painless journey in the last 20 years. It’s amazing what happens when you don’t eat anything after 7 and before 11 the next day - basically skipping breakfast, and eating more fruits and veggies. It’s also about not watching the scale continuously, and being content with an average of a pound a week over the long haul, no matter how much the scale fluctuates short term. I’m in it to win it this time. Toodles!

can’t believe my data is still on here. I have neglected maintaining any kind of structured eating plan for a couple of years now. I’m back up to 275 pounds.
I have learned a whole lot over the last year-even though I have made no serious commitment to follow through on any particular diet plan. I did lose 40 pounds rather quickly on an intermittent fasting plan, but I gained it all back shortly after coming off the plan.
I’ll be 74 years old in a couple months, and although I am very healthy for a man 85 pounds overweight, I know I need to make a serious lifestyle change soon to avoid some unhealthy health consequences in the not so distant future.
When I look back over the advice that I have given as well as followed over the past few years, I realize that I wasn’t as smart as I thought I was. Since then, through experience and research, and studying books such as “The China Study,” I am convinced that my healthiest weight loss option is a combination of exercise, intermittent fasting, and a whole food plant based eating plan.
