Plant-based diets? Anyone else have good experiences with these, in terms of weight loss and health improvements? Please comment if you do. I'd appreciate any thoughts or advice.
My approach to weight loss tends to rely heavily on animal proteins and though I've lost 100+lbs previously, I've always regained it and more. Last night, I watched The Game Changers on Netflix. A documentary made 2 years ago, it argues that we should be sourcing our protein from vegetables rather than animals. It's very compelling on how animal protein exacerbates inflammation, cardio problems, cortisol and estrogen, while vegetables do the opposite.
I was vegetarian and began for several years when I was younger. The evidence in this documentary was convincing enough to make me want to do it again. My husband watched it too and agrees; we're going to try switching over, if not to an entirely plant-based diet, at least largely so. (We have a fridge & freezer full of meat, fish and dairy that needs eating first.) The emergence of so many new plant-based products should make it easier. I'm hoping that, combined with the 16:8 fasting we started this week, it might help us solve a lot of our middle-aged weight and health issues.
