Last night, I danced for the first time in a very long time. I was so into it! I must have kept dancing for like 2 hours non-stop. Music is amazing. <3
So this past month, I stopped fasting for 2 weeks because I got an early period. I thought it might be implantation bleeding and that we were pregnant! Well, I may have been wrong. I don't know that I'm pregnant. I was advised by an online friend who is also an Intermittent Faster - and just gave birth - that it's okay to keep fasting until I get a positive test. We talked about the healing properties of fasting and the regulation of hormones related to childbearing. She really helped me get back on track. Since I had already gone various days with eating all day before that conversation, I still waited the recommended days, took a pregnancy test, got a negative, and started fasting again the next day. Now I'll keep IF'ing until I get affirmative results, which is great.
Oh my God. Trying to eat all day was not a good experience for me. Now that I have fasted for over 2 years, it seems my body prefers to stay fat adapted and in the catabolic / fat-burning state. It felt so awkward to eat in the mornings. I'm very glad that's over for now, and it's a good preview of what might happen if I were to get pregnant. Medical leaders in IF warn about the negative consequences of fasting while pregnant, many of which have to do with a lot more than having enough for your baby. So I'll enjoy my IF lifestyle and continue healing until I have to sacrifice and eat all day for 9 months. Crossing fingers!
So, we may not be pregnant. There is a 3-5% chance that the test was a false negative, so we'll see. It would be amazing to be give my husband a little kid! I know he'd be a great father, and I pray to God up above that we are blessed - if not now, maybe one day.
So, to my monthly numbers:
Last month: July 2020 Weight 146.5 lbs Body Fat 37.9%
This month: August 2020 Weight 148.5 lbs Body Fat 36.7%
Yes!! This is spectacular news! I lost 1.2% of my body fat!! Love this. I gained in all the right places, meaning that I gained muscle, baby! It was 2.5 pounds of sheer muscle, to be more precise. I also lost a whole pound of fat. I so love this month's numbers.
I especially love this because this affirms my belief that focusing only on the scale is an incomplete data element that I should not rely on. If I was only stepping on the scale, I would have felt like this past month was a total failure. (And it's quite the contrary!) It's because I also capture measurements - and calculate my body fat percentage - that I am able to see more of what is going on. Losing fat and gaining muscle is definitely good news. I wholeheartedly celebrate this gain.
