Interesting results after this weekend. Worked, but not as much swimming, lots of movement working in yard, but scale says muscle loss/fat gain which isn't really true and it's so minuscule anyways it doesn't really matter. I think we only walked Saturday night. Swam yesterday, it does make me more sore, so may be only walking for a few more days, we'll see. Taking the big guy to the vet this afternoon for allergies. First time with all the new protocols, a little nervous handing him off to someone outside the door. I'd avoid it altogether, but he's miserable. All those pretty flowers and he sticks his nose right into everything and causes his own misery.
That said, deck railings are clear, will power wash deck next weekend (or sooner if it gets really hot).

Buster has allergies, too. I think since he has been seen for this (and only this) the last few years, they will just go ahead and prescribe the medicine he has typically used to get better without needing to be seen... but who knows.

My Spitfire has allergies also. Apoquel year round.
You're getting a good workout with all this yard work you're doing.

Yeah, we've never had a spring this long or rough. I've been giving him Benadryl on my own, but want the vet input on dosage since he's a big guy and the only one of the three suffering. He is also being a nightmare as far as food. He's now food-adverse to his kibble (which is only a part of his diet), but eating chicken, ground beef, rice and sweet potatoes. So he's eating, but it's not a balanced, sustainable diet. The other shepherd keeps sniffing at his nose and ears which makes me think he has a sinus infection on top of the allergies. just a good thing to get checked out.

Allergies can be miserable for dogs. Apoquel seems to work great for a lot of dogs, but is pricey, especially for the big guys. Benedryl is 1mg per 1# of dog, example 75# dogs get 3 tablets (75mg) of benedryl three times a day. Regular baths help too. Ears frequently become infected, so the vet will look down in there too. I hope things get straightened out for him! ❤️❤️❤️

Ooh- can I ask a vet question for free? Is this just normal human benadryl that you can give? So if Buster is 100# he could have 4 caps of benadryl 3 times a day?

Yep just regular human benedryl. Make sure it's not the flavored children's stuff or the stuff with decongestant in it. 4 tablets up to 3 times a day for your big guy! Possible drowsiness.

Benedryl is one of the few otc meds I'll give advice about because it's so darn safe with few side effects. (Without knowing your pooch, of course.). 😊

We’re going with two Benadryl three times a day for now and he’s 105#. He’s also going on ABX for sinus infection. I was right. Of course I was, otherwise Benadryl would have fixed it. Also a plus, he didn’t try to eat any of the male techs wearing masks this time.
