Well, a happy Monday to the FatSecret Community! This morning began with my wife crying, as she got bit by the dog, while giving treats, and she got hysterical. Well, that woke me up, and she finally got off to work. My knee, after my last workout, is showing more progress to almost no pain, or feeling at all. After almost 9 months, I am hopeful of a full recovery. I am contemplating, when I should return to the gym. Excellent news on your knee! I have some knee issues (arthritis mostly) but now that I got off wheat and grains again the pain has stopped. Now I can go back to the treadmill.

Trackin, Is there any reason, other than carbs, you feel cutting grains helped your knees?

Warren, I think that there is data that associates grains with general inflammation in the body, I also had a 100% reduction in joint pain when I ditched grains.

Thanks Debra, I wish I could keep it out of the house. My wife love croissants.

I hope your wife's nerves have calmed down and that the bite is not too bad. That would throw me off if a dog that I'm close to did that. That's really great news about your knee. Wonderful progress.

Thanks Chica! You can't give treats too close to the dog's mouths. She will be Ok.

Warren, the grain I most commonly eat is wheat (when I am off low carb) and I have noticed gut issues from it in the past year or so in addition to swelling and/or joint pain. As Debrafrederick says, grains are shown to be inflammatory. Wheat is probably the worst and some say it is not so much because of the gluten but the gliadin - which hardly matters because they both occur together in the grain. However, our wheat that is now genetically modified (since about 1960) contains altered gliadin which may be related to the issues people seem to be having - which are many. See Dr. William Davis' (author of "Wheat Belly") blog on this topic for more.

Good job on your PU's. Its a great challenge to raise awareness for sure. I haven't thought about veterans killing themselves ever, more of a slow painful experience w PTSD or alcoholism. Now, it's every day I am reminded of the 22 daily that take their lives. Helps me to enjoy my life, no matter what.

Maybe it is time for a draft again, but not politically expedient, I'm afraid, but too much pressure on all these young volunteers. Thanks, Misty!
