Binky- dialysis is a bitch!! It is hard for someone who has not experienced that to relate to that experience and the way it makes you feel. I have been there and done that and after 8 months hooked on machines was on the mend to recovery.Do not be hard on yourself. Getting your body to function properly is key to your recovery. Weight loss will come when your body is functioning properly. All the best to you. 😄

Sorry you aren't feeling well - I hope your body recovers quickly - just snuggle up with your girl - she will make you feel better :)

peeperjj...I record my weight on Mondays, no matter what. I don't go to dialysis on Saturday and Sunday, so I record my dry weight Monday. I figure it is closest to my "real weight". Thank you crazycatchick, I have been on dialysis for 3 1/2 years. When I started, they had to pull an average of 2 1/2 kilos every time I went. I was wiped out and would just crash and sleep afterward. I lived in an assisted living facility for 3 months as I wasn't sure I could drive. Fast forward to now: they pull 1/2 a kilo to 1 kilo at each treatment. They no longer have to pull and extra kilo (which 90% of patients do) because I'm an "easy pull". I can also tinkle (sorry, no nice way to put it) and some patients no longer can urinate and dialysis is the only way to get rid of toxins. crazycatchick, I'm glad you don't still have to go. I have days where I am so tired and it is hard to explain what it feels like. I've learned to deal with it by taking naps. I'm in a good place right now!

Are you on a transplant list or sticking with dialysis

I started the process with UTMB. Got sidetracked with hip problems...thinking about Methodist or Memorial Hermann. I don't want to stick with dialysis forever. I only have my brother left...other close family passed away and he can't. Thanks for asking! :)

Binky, I think I asked you this before, are you familiar with the Living Bank, a non-profit organization that promotes organ donations from living donors? A friend of mine used to be the Executive Director. They do good work, I suggest you look into it if you have not already done so.

Binkytexas— are the people at dialysis adjusting their run plan to accommodate your new dry weight?

Binky you are a strong woman. Challenges in life make us stronger. You are in my prayers. Do you need a kidney transplant? I wasn't sure about asking questions because I didn't want to make you feel uncomfortable. Mine are not so good or I would offer to help. I love you sweetie. God will send you a match.
