Mikey- I put off trying to fast for a long time. But I finally got myself psyched to do it, and the week seemed doable, so I just decided to go for it (after educating myself through reading and You Tube). I'm amazed at how easy it has been. My husband has been Okay with cooking and eating on his own for a few days. There have been no cravings. If I feel a little hungry I drink water or warm tea. The hunger mostly shut down; I've been sleeping well; I've been alert; I scored a 97% on an exam I took yesterday. So, no problems really. I'm on my last planned day today, but I might extend it a bit. On Saturday, we're having a family gathering, so I'll refeed Saturday. Read or watch Dr. Jason Fung; he makes it sound so easy, and basically it is. The only problem I had was that I drank a glass of the recommended salt water and that was a mistake for me; it made my blood pressure rise, so I won't do that again.

I used to be able to fast but I get low blood sugar now. Any suggestions

Lianepeek - yes, it would help you to ease into it with keto and intermittent fasting. Your body will adapt to fat-burning instead of sugar burning, and that is what eliminates the low blood sugar problem and the cravings. Check out Dr Jason Fung's book 'Obesity Code'.

Thanks for your support everyone! I'm down another 1.4 since yesterday for a total on the fast of about 5 lbs in 3 days. Some of that will come back, of course. But I'm hanging in for another day to max it out. Still feeling good, though I didn't sleep well last night. I drank some black tea and on an empty system, I think the caffein got to me. Plus, I learned that the body releases adrenaline, so I've got some high energy which is good because I'm hosting a family gathering tomorrow, so there's some house cleaning and shopping to do! Ketone fueled!
