Day 4 of a planned 5 day 'no solid food fast'
Blood sugar 90 mg/dL
👍 Wow, Another 2 pound loss 😊
🥛 I now feel that, for me, consuming large amounts of "Quest Vanilla Milkshake Protein Powder", heavy cream, and Splenda does not slow my weight loss, in fact it seems to speed it up. I go through the day with my energy at maximum level. There is no indication that I have not had solid food since Sunday night.
🧘🏾♂️ Some personal thoughts about fasting. I feel, fasting is about managing water. I don’t need to consume any calories as long as I have fat on my body, but I do need electrolytes. When they are ‘out of balance’ you will experience lethargy, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea or constipation (then you will dehydrate and die! ⚰️). If you have plenty of water you can avoid the dehydration part, but you will periodically experience the effects of electrolyte imbalance.
☠️ This is unpleasant! This is why people may feel that fasting is hard.
😎 For me this current fast has been a breeze. I could keep this up for a month. I only intend to end it because I have family functions (Mom’s cooking!). I look forward to restarting the fast next week.
The reasons I think this fast has been so easy:
🌟 I am consuming over 900 calories in protein drinks
🌟 I take an ‘electrolyte concentrate’ that provides magnesium, sodium, chloride, and potassium, and zinc
🌟 I exercise a lot
🌊 In the past, I have tried drinking a lot of electrolyte infused water (Fiji water) but, it will not replace the electrolytes faster than I am expelling water, and also made matters worse because too much water dilutes the electrolytes that I do have in my body. When fasting only an electrolyte concentrate like "Hi-Lyte Electrolyte Concentrate" 2-3 times a day relieves any symptoms.
📷 I am posting a picture from yesterday because it is the best I think I will look for several weeks. While my muscles look wayyyy better than a month ago when I was this weight, I still expect some muscle loss as I try to lose an additional 10 pounds. I don’t expect to look better again until I re-start my ‘bulking up’ phase.
Have a good day everyone!
