bri293's Journal, 25 June 2014

I got to the grocery store yesterday and loaded up on all kinds of good healthier food choices, hopefully this will keep me in line the next couple weeks. Unfortunately, I live with my boyfriend and he also bought some unhealthy things that I will have to try to avoid! He's trying to eat a little better too, but not as much as I am which I'm learning makes it tough because I'm tempted by whatever he is eating.

Going to try to get a good run in today after work as long as it doesn't storm! It's supposed to rain heavily this afternoon but I hope it stops early enough for me to run tonight. If not I'll have to do a video or ride the stationary bike.

I'm trying to step up my weight loss starting today... I was hoping to be down to 150 by July 12th when I started this last month, but I had a hard time getting started. I probably won't make that goal because of the really bad start that I had, but I would like to get as close as possible. That weekend I have a bachelorette party for a college friend and I would love to be looking better... especially because we're going to be at the beach! There will be tons of pictures and a lot of time spent in a bathing suit. Oh and did I mention that most of the girls going are in super great shape?? So here's to hoping that the thought of being 160lbs and doing that is scary enough to motivate me to be much much better the next couple weeks!
160.0 lb Lost so far: 2.0 lb.    Still to go: 25.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

One thing that has helped me is to not "hope" but to "do". Make your mind up 100% and do what it takes. Plan your diet ahead of time and log it before you eat. Plan your workouts ahead of time and do them. If you do this, you can't fail. It is not possible.

You are so right 1TiredWoman! I need to put my mind to it and hold myself accountable. I have been finidng it much easier lately to stick to eating better when I plan things out ahead of time and log before I eat. I need to do the same for my workouts!

My husband eats so much junk food it isn't funny. I used to sneak into his stuff but last year something just hit me that if "I" don't own what goes in my mouth, I'm destined to "live" like my parents and brother, HBP, high blood sugar, diabetic, sleep apnea, can't get around very well, etc. there but for the Grace of God go I!

Bri. Tell him he has to stop that. Tell him he needs to do it the way I used to. I'd go to the store and buy us each a treat. Usually one chocolate bar to split. It was very touchy feely cuddly type sharing. Then when she'd go to bed, I'd go back to my coat and pull out the other two chocolate bars, the bag of chips and the package of candies. Easy. No more temptation for you. @Kris So much of life is that last phrase in the reply above, Kris. It's also why we need to look at others and feel compassion.

That's a great idea northernmusician! He means well but doesn't realize that the package of cookies he buys for himself eats away at my willpower until I give in and have a couple. Even if I eat them in moderation, it's still more than I would eat if they weren't in the house at all! Kris, I am working on my willpower because you are right! It's up to me to "own" everything that I put into my mouth if I want to stop the weight gain!
