I’m very sorry. Such a common problem in today’s world. Try to remember to “put the oxygen on yourself first”. If you are not ok, you can’t help him. My prayers for peace for you both.

I have dealt with the same for a very long time. Just let him know that no matter how bad it seems in the moment that once out of the bout of depression life gets way better. It comes and goes. Hope everything goes well for you guys. Take him to see a therapist and these days you can even talk to them online.

My son had real challenges with self harm. Between medication, counseling and coming out, he is doing much better but still has depression issues. It was a *rough* few years though of both in patient and out patient treatment. People often don’t talk about their kid’s struggles but know that you aren’t alone.

I'm so sorry! I have 2 grandaughters that have depressive issues and it's such a hard thing to go through! I used to tell my oldest to wait 1 more day, hour, minute to see if things improve..she said it became her motto...💜💜💜💜💜💜

so sorry for that, it's the worst a mother can go thru. I gave a daughter with lots of issues. she has problems with self worth and depression and it spirals into bad decisions which makes a full circle back again. I wish they can stay small so we can always protect them, even from themselves.

I’ll add him to my prayer list. And you as well. One of the most difficult things a mother can face I’m sure! ❤️🙏

Thanks everyone. It was the first time I was happy to clean vomit... cause that meant he didnt metabolizes all the pills...he threw some up and it was a mess but he was alive. Its funny... I didnt really tell people I know.... I guess because it makes it more real. It's been a rough couple years...

My dr had me on all kinds of stuff. I wanted to rip my skin off, couldn’t sit still, couldn’t concentrate... it was horrid. I’m on trintellix and buspar now and that combination has taken away the above and my depression symptoms. Maybe your son needs a change in meds?

If you can find it, and if he'll go, cognitive behavioral therapy was a literal life saver for me. 38 year major depressive disorder survivor. Daughter triggered MDD her first year of college. Combination of meds and CBT finally gave the relief I had given up hope existed.

I have the same with my teenage daughter. it's very frustrating when there is nothing you can do for them. I am so grateful just to see her smile, even just for a minute. I hope his Dad is also supportive like you are. My daughter's Dad doesn't understand depression or why she can't just "snap out of it" if he buys her an iPhone. Also, what Kenna said. I take care of me, so I can be calm and strong when she needs me.

Hes been to therapy. Wont talk. Wont talk to anyone. I've done all thevstwps except residential and ilk have to see if insurance can cover the cost. Yeah his dad is supportive, we do what we can to work togther. It's all just a lot to take.... plus my own issues and I have two other kids and 3 dogs... one of which is a foster who was just diagnosed with heartworm.
It's been a rough week and all I want to do is eat icecream till I die or smoke... cant do either so i just obsessively clean things.
