Diea's Journal, 03 October 2017

Eek!!! I just finished logging my dinner from yesterday. I ate an entire 10" pizza. Well, first I ate 2 of the 6 slices and put the leftovers in the fridge. An hour later, I did the shameful walk back into the kitchen to eat the cold pizza... in its entirety. As I ate it, I remembered how I used to eat like that, scarfing down food mindlessly even though my my body was telling me I was stuffed. I spent so many years like that before I found this world of health and fitness.

I haven't eaten that many calories in a while now. Wow.

I'd been feeling hunger 2 hours after each meal, which is how I know I am in weight loss mode. This initial transition back into the life is challenging, and my body is still getting used to it. Growing pains? Small setback? Pretty much.

I imagine you might look at my diet calendar and give me tips on eating more protein or something. Well, I am transitioning out of consuming all animal meats. <---- that might be why I was feeling so hungry and ate the entire pizza.

It feels good to confess and regroup. Cathartic. Thank you for this option, FS.

Pizza is a killer for me too Diea, love the taste and it doesn't fill me up. Take a few days of eating less and add a few extra activities and your body will absorb the "binge" with no lasting diet damage. Hope your week ahead is awes9me!!

I am not hungry but I still feel the urge to eat although I am full. That usually happens if the taste of my previous meal hasn't hit the spot. I keep on grazing til I find something that does. And then I realise that I should have eaten it in the first place. Live and learn :) Kudos for not eating animals no more :)

Your body will crave protein as you transition... try relying on health fats in your diet to satisfy your cravings. Please don't lean too heavily on carbohydrates... they will not satisfy like protein and fats do. Best wishes to you!

Diea, I have done that before. It just so happens that pizza cold or not is a very big temptation. It is hard not to go back in there and polish it off. Confess and regroup is a good thing. Deny yourself the next time an opportunity like that comes around and the feeling of being empowered is very rewarding. You can do it.

Hey, it happens, especially in a transition. The important thing is to come up with some ideas about what to do "instead" then follow them the next time. I don't know how many "children in India" have starved because I've just thrown out food after I've eaten my portions. I have been known to trek through the back yard and chuck leftovers in the big garbage can in the alley. This was a childhood no-no (starving children in India was used), as we always had to clean our plates and food was never wasted. Some things are just too tempting, but I don't want to deprive myself of a planned treat either. So, I do eat 99 9/10's of the food I have...very little waste in this house.

I understand you , that happens with me, too. especially if it's pizza , I think if you did it one time a week you will be ok because we need a day like that which we eat delicious meals with a lot of calories.

Thank you for the amazing show of support, FS fam! These tips are very helpful, whether they are knew to me or reaffirmations of what has worked in the past, things that I needed help in remembering. Grazzie!

NawalMando2: I am definitely having a few bigger meals every once in a while, but this was an exaggeration! It made me feel unhealthy for days. I feel like I'm barely getting out of that funk.

Schmetterlinge34: I am still eating animals, but am slowly getting out of the habit. I didn't want to go cold turkey. I've done that before with many things and it only last 6-8 months. Slowly but surely, I'll get this stuff out of my system. Every time I do, I feel much better and am out of risk for pre-diabetes, which is amazing. It's crazy how meat products are linked to diabetes but there isn't much talk about that in the states. Anywho... thanks for the support!

Good job keeping your plan in mind - I have to get on track too and it is great to hear from others about how things are truly going.

Just so you know I consume 85g of protein a day from egg white omelette with 1 oz. of 50% reduced fat cheese, 1 high protein shake and 1 power yogurt=540 calories and the rest of my 1100 is carbs. and a little fat. I hate meat. Eating 3oz of NYStrip lightly sautéed, very tender as a concession to the carnivore tonight.

My my! That stuff does work for weight loss. When I did my first 60 pounds, I swore by egg whites and reduced fat cheese and yogurt. Good for you, Paulanavarette. Good luck with that concession meal!

I hear you. my big one is just plain rice and butter. of course I love pizza but can usually manage around it, but if my hubs makes a pot of rice I'm a goner. I have to make him tell me it's for him and that he doesn't want to share. even then I don't totally ignore it. it's hard!

Yes, it's hard no matter how I frame it. Morning affirmations are supposed to help. I might start trying that out, @Laurawku.
