!!FULL DISCLOSURE!!

The struggle is real. The addiction to sugar and any food that gets converted to sugar quickly in your body is MIND BLOWING!

I AM AN SUGAR ADDICT I AM TRYING MY BEST TO BEAT THIS MONSTER.

I don't do recreational drugs, but I do consume alcohol here and there and don't binge drink any more (In the beginning of the year, I use to be out of control with heavy drinking on Thursday evenings when I play pool with buddies of mine. [All in my food logs for your curiosity, enjoyment or disgust]. Now I have a glass of wine or two)

To be honest, I don't know how the hell I lost over 50 pounds this year while constantly fighting this sugar addiction. I guess, pure determination and outrunning the fork which earlier in the year my position on this was that you can't outrun the fork.

Maybe it was me constantly changing my way of eating strategies, eating less and moving my body more was the main contributor of this weight loss. I call this the try, fail, adjust method.

When I don't log my foods here, it is usually because I am guilty and I succumbed to my sugar/simple carb addictions. Regardless, I have always gotten back up, got on my weight loss horse and rode off into the sunset[I usually fall off again if I see some delightful treat on the way before the sun sets completely.]

As I reflect on the last 10 months of my journey, I feel I am a better person, I am getting stronger and stronger each day. I hope my journey has inspired at least one person to take action and control of their thoughts and actions.

Thank you brave warriors for achieving your goals and sharing your journeys. To the rest of us warriors in training, be brave, you can do it!

-Ches

P.S.
By the way, I am working on my 70 pounds lost plan now and it will be an AMAZING story for me to share in the upcoming months.

I too have a sugar addiction! :( such a struggle! I did really well and lost 25 pounds in about 5 months, by restricting sugar, crackers, etc. and exercising. Trying really hard to get back to that momentum. Good luck! I always like reading your posts. Jan

I broke the sugar addiction years ago, because there's a strong history of diabetes in my father's family, and I've watched them get buried one body part at a time. But I do feel your pain, because my addiction turned to simple carbs...wheat, grains, etc. One little 'trick' I've used is to envision a skull and crossbones over certain aisles in the grocery store, and on packages. It IS poison to me! Just as I broke the addictions to coke and meth in the 90's I CAN break the addiction to wheat.

Lots of great input. Today, I was victorious. Topping of this win with 10 ounces of water. While listening to the 8 week blood sugar diet on my commute home, one person controlled their cravings by picturing a foot that needs to be cut off due to diabetic neuropathy. I googled diabetic foot and I think I found an association to make when thinking about giving into bad food.

All that sugary stuff taste good and so does all those high carb foods too. I would name a few but I don't want to start salivating on my keyboard. You are obviously aware of the pitfalls of eating that junk or you would not have made the progress that you have achieved. Every day will not be perfect but you are still way ahead of the game. Don't totally deny yourself of treats. It could set off a binge. Practice moderation as a reward...

Anyone on here doing the LCHF diet? Just started this week. Feel great and don't feel deprived of anything because I feel full. Only questing what can I eat that will get my protien up and keep fat down. I am really close each day and have not weighed myself yet so I don't think it is hurting me, but was up for suggestions. If anyone wants to know more about this diet I can add you to the FB site that is awesome.

Oh Ches, that Reese's comment was hysterical - you should be a writer! (Perhaps you are.) Being addicted myself, and on the wrong path at this point in time, the one thing that puzzles me is that when I am eating too many carbs they are unsatisfying. I eat more and more, hoping to be satisfied but it's a no-go. I'm guessing it must be blood-sugar related. It doesn't taste all that great because my body's saying "enough with the sugar and carbs" but at the same time it is saying "eat, eat! We're going to crash!" And what's the quickest thing to grab and eat? More carbs. #stopthecarboverload

Sugar is definitely my downfall, especially with coffee, I can force myself to stop eating chocolate, cakes and other sugary self, but I can just never give up my sugary coffee and I drink a lot of them!
