northernmusician's Journal, 24 July 2016

Odd. One of my coworkers, who's probably 30 pounds over weight, told me I was abusing my body by carb and calorie cycling. Hmm.

While I said I was done with 'that diet', I'm using it as a lean bulk method. It's far less extreme. 100 gr carbs per day and under 2500 cals 3 days a week (rather than 1500), maintenance for 3 days a week and high carb one day a week (about 5000).

Photos from my huckleberry picking wander. Wanted to go out again today, but it's raining today.

Oh yum! Great photos. Once upon a time, our family was the last group to come down from Granite Chalet in Glacier. To help out, the staff sent the "extra" groceries down in our packs...including several chocolate bars. Along the way we picked the huckleberries that the bears had missed and talk about two great tastes that taste great together!! Thanks for the memory :)

All I can say, April, is I'm far more humane than starvation or a wolf pack.

@Bruce last year you sent me a memorable video of a man, "whole chunking"~ my term, a moose.

"Whole chunking"!!! lol. Good description. That was a good one. Field dressing without gutting. I'll have to watch that one again. It's certainly a lot cleaner than the industrial based way of cleaning an animal. I loved your note today about the fall being 'popcorn and a coke' worthy. In fact. Popcorn and a coke I'll schedule in for that night. I can break the diet for that for sure.

The popcorn and coke does sound good doesn't it. Field dressing w/o gutting, now I remember the proper term.

It isn't a Disney movie out there, April.

I thought you said you were a self-employed teacher. Looks more like a fixed income to me, Suzy.

Nice pics & picks Bruce....we had two old guys (moose) "camping" within a mile of us over this last weekend. Early every morning we'd hear them saying "good morning" to each other, very cool.

There is nothing wrong with being on a fixed income and bearing up impressively well under duress, in extremely challenging circumstances that most of us do not have to face daily--or ever. And a girl can dream, nothing wrong with that! Reaching out to experience the rest of the world and some of its citizens via modern technology is to transcend physical limitations and can lead to meaningful connections with people with warm hearts and inquisitive minds the world over. On occasion, a person may have a legitimate and well considered reason for maintaining some curtain of anonymity. I happen to know that is the case here. The best thing about FS is when we treat each other with compassion and kindness.

I was not belittling someone for being on a fixed income in my last reply. My last reply was due to the fact that someone who had unfriended me (in a second incarnation here who had told me it was her at that point but then had a falling out with me) was playing me through a third user name. April was obviously Suzy. Other posts referred to the tattoo and other things. It was clear. She got back to trying to fix my opinions and that was enough. I got tired of the game and called her out. There is nothing wrong with being on a fixed income. There is something wrong with being disingenuous with people. I am absolutely disgusted with this.

Ah. I see. It read like a very cutting remark to me, and I appreciate the clarification that you were not intentionally belittling anyone. That's important to know. I'm sorry to hear that you felt you were being played. FWIIW, I am aware via prior knowledge of a completely different reason for the subterfuge that had absolutely nothing to do with you or any member of this site. It is a reason that I would not have imagined and others here might not either, but it is reasonable within the the actual complicated, cultural circumstances. I'm sorry you've both had another falling out. I wish you both the best, friends or not.
