debrafrederick's Journal, 08 April 2016

Just for s**ts and giggles I had my hubby (kids don't try this at home) lift up the jiggly, wiggly roll of loose skin that has dropped down around my hips and I took my actual hip measurement, it was 43 inches! Wow! I have 4 inches of excess skin around my hips, makes me wish for a sharp pair of scissors and some thread! My measurements are 45-36-43 if not for the skin I would be a Jessica Rabbit :) on the plus side of course. I don't know if that is a cheat on the measurements or not, but I was curious what it would be if the roll vanished. Curiosity satisified! Carry on! Have a wonderful day!

I wouldn't say it's a cheat. I measure myself as bust, waist, tummy, hips

you are so blessed...i know you would rather have that extra skin than to have all that weight back....and the bravery that you talk about it is refreshing...thanks for being so honest...i have just started to have some around my stomach and under my chin which make me very concerned...i have not researched what happens to the extra skin or is surgery the only way....but thanks for your post.

Thanks for the support guys, kinda late dragging in today! Fred, I don't know of anything other than surgery to take out the extra skin, other than improving your health to the point where your skin regains it's elasticity and if I discover that, I will retire a multi-billionaire and buy me an island somewhere hot. I read a book on essential oils, aromatherapy and massage. They had a couple of recipes and I am giving them a try. Oddly enough the cellulite on my inner thighs seems to be breaking up, but that is the only improvement I have noticed after 2 weeks. But I am going to give it time...besides the massage oils and homemade bath oils smell fabulous and make me feel pampered. It's a win either way. Meanwhile, I will just deal with the turkey neck, batwing arms and the spare tire around my hips. I did also start wearing a girdle just to control the jello-like jiggles that happen when I walk. I'm hoping that the compression of the garment will make a difference. Only time will tell :)

One member who lost alot recommended massaging daily with Nivea skin tightening cream.I am not sure if that is the correct name but I am sure it was Nivea. She said it really worked for her, gradually there was less loose skin.I need to try it too!

Any tips any one has on tackling the issues of drooping skin (aside from surgery) will be well received!!! I am happy we are talking about the side effect of losing weight. When we drop the weight really fast, I can imagine the skin doesn't have a chance to catch up ... also age is a factor. Eating nutritionally dense food has to help. I would like that list of essential oils and how to apply it. I am not losing like most of you but I do have the droops. LOL!

Hey Mom, haven't had much of a chance to catch up in the last few days, I'll hunt down my recipes in a bit and list the oils, there are several formulas and synergistic blends that can be used. I got them out of a book I bought for my Tablet kindle reader on Amazon. It's called The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy by Valerie Ann Worwood. It's pretty detailed as far as what oils fix what. It's taken me a bit of time to collect the oils I need. Mountain Rose Herbs are where I get them, some of them can be a bit pricey, but excellent quality oils. (Insofar as I can tell) I am just getting started myself. I have peppermint and spearmint growing with my roses by the porch and a cup of fresh rose petal and mint tea lead me to say hmmmmmm, and there I go :)

Ahhhh .... sounds so heavenly. I have purchased several oils and meant to get some other things before the hubs retired ... but alas ... I never did. I was just wondering if I had the stuff already. I have no rose oil and I know that is pricey. I might have some essential oil books on my kindle now. Hmmmm. I should check that out.

Mom, here's the Toxin Eliminator bath recipe 2 handfuls Epsom salt, 1 handful rock salt, 8 drops of the following synergistic blend - Mix these oils together and allow them to blend overnight - Oregano 6 drops, Juniper 6 drops, Lemon 10 drops, Grapefruit 10 drops, Basil 8 drops. Soak in very warm water for 30 minutes while massaging the cellulite areas while under water, you absorb the oils, break up the toxins stored in the cellulite areas and sweat them out your pores. It's rather relaxing too and smells wonderful. I would suggest some soothing music and candlelight at the same time. Makes you feel pampered and special. Beware of being a limp noodle coming out of the tub. :)

Thanks! I can't soak in a tub at the moment. I gave my bathroom with the tub to my mother (it is in the hallway close to her bedroom and the rest of the house) because when she needs to run for the bathroom, it has to be free for her to use at any given hour of the day. She has potty issues. I share the master bathroom with the hubs and it just has a shower. I would love to soak in a tub again.

Mom, I would die without a bathtub, a long soak is just about the only thing I use to spoil myself. I have candles, wireless speakers and a Do Not Disturb sign for the door!
