Funny stuff in the second paragraph. Okay, so I have a stable weight for two days here at 190. This is the top of the swing for my weight. I'm thinking now that the top weight, not the bottom plunge weight that seems so unstable, should be what I'm considering my actual weight. Why? Because this is clearly the hydrated, glycogen loaded weight of my body. Since glycogen stores have a limit, everything as in a balanced, or loaded, state. This will help my thought processes in two ways. 1st, it will let me relax about the upswing, and 2nd, when I go to maintenance I should then be seeing that weight which will keep me from panicking about a 4 or 5 pound gain. Granted, we're so weight centric that this seems counter intuitive, but our real weight surely must be our normal weight with everything in balance where we are most highly functional, and not our weight while everything is depleted.

So I began this journey in 2012. At 235 pounds I was puffing to tie shoelaces and finding any exertion extremely difficult. Now I'm lifting weights during the week for approximately 6 hours and I feel better than I did in my 20s (to the best of my recollection). But the thing that really annoys me is that in 2012 there was a new exercise craze and I MISSED IT! I could have been in on the ground level. Granted, it's not weight lifting, but it just looks like it could have been so much darn fun! Even the youtube link has wew as the last three letters, which is awfully close to 'whew' which is of course an onomatopoeia for exertion. Check it! This could have been me? :D

Rebound in water weight is inevitable if you move off of a low-carb diet completely, and not understanding why this happens is why people continually jump on a diet to lose 5-10lbs...then stop..regain 5-10lbs...then jump on the wagon again. Your body wants to be in statis. If you've been running a low-carb diet for sometime, your glycogen stores are depleted, once you move away from low-carb and start to eat carbs again, they will re-stock. For every 1gm of carbohydrate stored, you store 3 gms of water. As you've been low on your glucose storage, your body overcompensates and stores excess glucose and water, however, this settles pretty quickly. You may find that you put on 5-10lbs...then lose 5lbs a few weeks later. I have a co-worker on shakes only...100lbs lost since August around November we migrated from shakes to LCHF, he regained 14lbs in two weeks....3 weeks later it was all gone and he continues to lose 2-3lbs per week. If you don't drink enough water, your body retains water...when you start to drink more more water you make a lot of trips to the bathroom, as you've signaled that the drought is over...quit storing excess water, as there is plenty of water incoming. After a few days you settle down and while you drink the same amount, you make few trips to pee. Losing weight and maintaining weight loss is about an after-action plan...what to do once you lose the weight. @philmck has been rigid in his LCHF plan, and it has worked great for him. He's acknowledged that he's an addict (Sugar) and the only way to be successful was to treat it like that. Once he reaches his goal weight, he may stay that way, or look for a structured plan that incorporates more carbs and even junk food while staying within a maintenance weight range.

@Steven Lloyd :) The hairdo is bad, but someone needs to tell her that ladies shouldn't wear slacks that 'smile' in the front.

Yup. @philmick has a phenomenal success story and I adore his recipes, especially the ones that incorporate the chilli sauces. I really think he should do a recipe book! @ Mahjohn - Thank you for a very informative and detailed reply. Much appreciated. I think the reality is that for so many of us going back to "carbage" is not an option, unless we want to "balloon" again..... and honestly having grown to love keto foods, I know that I wouldn't want to anyway :)

I've heard about that protein shake diet. Actually, I seem to recall doing it last year or so for a couple of weeks. I know it as the velocity diet. As to prancercise, I laugh every time I run across it.
