***may be gross**

Yesterday and today have been declared take care of yourself days. At least that is what my ear is telling me. Yesterday I felt so crummy i laid on the couch all day. Last night I was up for a trip the the BR at 4 am, I have a cold so blew my nose and wonders my ear popped and then continued to crackle... kind of like having a candy bar wrapper crinkling inside your ear. Returned to bed with a feeling of vertigo as my ear continued on noisily and I believe some of the fluid drained via the ear and Eustachian tube. The Nausea I had yesterday as well was renewed add the vertigo and well that sent me reeling back to the bathroom sick.

I ended up staying in bed almost afraid to move. Ron got the kiddos off to school and when I got up more vertigo and nausea arrived an hour later. Yay me! :P NOT! Fortunately, I was not sick again. Now 3 hrs later I have forced myself out of bed and opened the shop, feeling moderately better. Nausea and vertigo and crinkling in the ear gone. I hope that means the drainage is done but not going to hold my breath because no crinkling, however the ear feels plugged again - though admittedly not as bad as before. Either that or my hearing is damaged or still needs healing to fully recover. So, still on wait and see status. **not happy** But I will accept not feeling ill.

So, no workout for the 2nd day this week. Hoping to feel well enough for tomorrow. WOE will depend on my stomach.

Outside it has warmed up after several 0 or below days settling in low teens as a high. Today it is sunny and warm enough for the ice on the roof to melt. So is sounds like it is pouring out on an otherwise nice day.

This advise is from a doctor. Told me to use nasal spray (Afrin etc) in combination with Sudafed 3 times a day for 4 days. And it works! Gets that fluid from behind the ear to clear out. Hope this helps you.

Kelly, hope as the day goes on you are feeling better. I know you are on a bunch of meds from the doc so before taking anything else I would check to see if it's compatable with the meds you are already on. Take care of you, rest and get better.

i cannot take sudafed anyway. most decongestants mistreat me - ie i cannot sleep. My dr is sending me to the ENT but they could not get me in until, 1/21, He also said this often clears on its own and the ENT may not do much before I hit 12 weeks without relief or nature taking its course. This is start of week 3.

Eat Altoids like candy. The strongest one, peppermint. It really helps unplug your sinus/tubes, particularly in conjunction with hot showers.

My doctor has me using a "Nettie Pot" to keep my sinuses cleared. He even gave me a recipe for the mixture to use instead of purchasing prepackaged. I am hear to tell you this works once you get the hang of using it and it doesn't interfere with other medications. Solution: 1 tsp salt (kosher, canning or pickling salt) and 1/2 tsp of baking soda per pint of water. Stir this up and use in the nasal pot. The web site says to use 3 times a week; but it you are really stuffy and clogged; I have used mine 3 times a day when really ill per doctors instructions.

i have used a netti pot in the past but need to get one again. mine is MIA since the move totally forgot about them. color me blonde. I would try peppermint but i cannot stand it, and when I can it is in very mild doses. DH got me some saline nasal spray this evening for bedtime. the only time my sinuses bother me is when I lay down. My CPAP can be a blessing and a curse in times like these normally means the up side is clear and the down side is plugged depending on the side i lay on. Which has been with the bad ear up most of the time. Hoping the nasal spary helps. Also hoping it helps with the dry mouth/sinuses i only get at night and yes my CPAP has a humidifier.

I agree with Punkin5053 - I use the nasal swish twice a day. It really helps. Once your ears are clear you could try it as a preventive

I used to have terrible problems with my sinuses. Then I found someone who does lymphatic drain massages. I was dubious but thought I had nothing to loose. Honestly I have never felt better since. It took about 2 hours and she really concentrated on my sinuses. I was a bit in a trance. Although I felt better immediately afterwards it took 2 weeks for it to take the full effect. And I have had no issues since then. Worth a go IMHO.
