Went to the gym yesterday and it kicked my butt. Last night I sugar crashed and couldn't breathe well. Not to bad today but still a little shaky. Blood sugar was at 54. I probably should have waited a couple of more days to get over the cold before I went back to the gym.

That is too low for blood sugar! It's exhausting when that happens and I'm sure, scary. Exercise has an effect on your insulin/blood sugar level. It may be a good idea to take it right before you go, but also make sure you're feeling well. A walk may be better for you then the gym if you feel you have to exercise right now. Be safe!

Hey, Losing weigh is great, and I have also pushed myself to the point, but we have to watch the sugar. I keep a rice krispies treat in my pocket all the time, in case i CRASH. (if you crash and they take you to hospital, not good) I lowered my carbs to 12-20 a day, mostly 10. BUT!!!! keep in touch with your body. If you feel shakey, weird, or just different, eat a slice of bread, jelly beans, something with carbs and sugar. It won't make a big difference in weight lose, but it will in your health. TRUST ME I've been there, done it, passed out, learned my lesson, and now, know what my limits are. Hope this helps Michael

Yes a good rule, "don't exercise until the body is better!" I hope that you feel better soon.Take care~Ann

Good rule:::MY doc keeps warning me about exercising too soon after being sick and to work back in a bit gradually. I get bronchitis and pneumonia easily. She fusses at me because she knows I'll jump in and try to do too much. Her advice has helped me start back slow and listen to your body. With asthma I have to pay attention to my breathing -- if it get raggy I now quit before I'm in real trouble. Not fun sitting in the locker room trying to breath waiting for the rescue inhaler to kick in.
