Good morning, FS Warriors! Out on the pavement by 4:30 this morning. My quads were still sore, but I toughed it out. If I can't work the soreness out, I will have to lay off a couple days. I don't want to lose any ground though. I'm considering a 5K on May 24th. A little town is starting a Verterans Commemorative 5K for the first time this year, and if it works out, and this becomes an annual event, it would be nice to be able to say I got in on their very first one. Buckled on my Nike Sportband, Garmin GPS watch, and my Timex Ironman watch, along with my Polar HR monitor chest strap, which turned out to be worthless, because it wasn't the one that is compatible with my Nike+ Sportband. Anyway, if it had been daylight, people would have thought I was Mr. Gadget. I'm just trying to document my progress, to see what works for improvements, and what doesn't. I wanted to see if the Nike+ Sportband distance matched the GPS distance. What I found was that I could fool the Sportband by shortening my stride, which I was doing to compensate for the muscle soreness. The Sportband said I ran 2 3/4 miles, while the GPS ticked off 2 1/4. I'm pretty sure the Sportband is fairly accurate for my normal stride. Time will tell. It matches really well on the treadmill.

DW told me over the phone that she was going to have the best chef salad that I had ever eaten, waiting on me when I got home from work. I think she did. It had hardboiled eggs, different kinds of lettuce, English cukes, tomatoes, onions, sliced red and yellow pepper rings, turkey, ham, chicken, black olives, cashews, sunflower seeds and other nuts, shredded carrots and cheese. I think there were other things, but I don't remember what they were. I added some ranch dressing to the sections I could finish, because I couldn't finish it all, and I wanted to take the remainder to work, without it being all soggy and such. Guess what I brought in my lunch to work today? Yep.

On the way to worship practice last night, I saw that a neighbor up the street, who I'd never met before, had a large mound (14 tons) of white rock deposited in his driveway. He was out there with a shovel, and I am sure the task ahead of him was a bit overwhelming. I stopped and told him that I'd be done in a little over an hour and I would come back with my tractor and level out the mound and grade his driveway. He seemed to appreciate the offer, and I did what I said I would do. I finished up in the dark, but it only took about 45 minutes. He tried to pay me, but I told him that, if he did that, it wouldn't be fun anymore. This is what I do for relaxation. He was a young guy with a wife and a little girl, and I think I made another friend.

Well, got to get back to work. Have to earn enough money so I can go to the "all you can eat Walleye" dinner at the local bar tonight. Haha, usually, the first serving is all I can eat. Toodles!

Such a great neighbor! You remind me of my father and my husband. The good guys! Be careful running in the dark with all those gadgets...someone might come up and bang you on the head to steal your loot. Your salad sounds amazing. YUM!
