bigbassbrent's Journal, 19 March 2014

It feels good being in complete control of your diet and health. So let's just overlook the fact that I had two beers and some corn last night when I was visiting a friend. Those two things are not on my diet but I made a decision to enjoy them at the time. Even though I strayed just a little, I am still in complete control. Food and drink no longer haunt me. I can choose yes or no and I can live with my decisions. Being in complete control is how you can be successfully with your diet. It does not mean you can’t enjoy some of the food you love from time to time, but it does mean that you will hold yourself accountable for your decisions. It also means that you will never lose focus on your ultimate goal, with is to be healthy. Never beat yourself up for what you did one day. Just try even harder to make up for it the next day and every day thereafter. :)

Part of this is taking back the ability to enjoy things like that occassionally, not feeling limited by your health. Just keep moving forward. You are doing wonderful!

Chad, I knew I could count on you to put a positive spin on things. I look forward to one day down the road when I can allow myself 100g of healthy carbs per day. I really miss fruit. Right now I’m staying below 50g, but I'm mostly in around 25g-30g per day to stay in ketosis. I know the carbs will help my lifting tremendously which is very exciting to me. I love having goals and shattering them.

Yep, no more scapegoats we are in control of our decisions wrong or right. If you want to loosen the reigns a little here there you know how to recover. I love this journal and witnessing your growth on this journey. Keep up the great work.

It is great to finally be able to look at a platter or buffet of food and not feel the need to hide under the table.

during my bulk I constantly went out for a draft on my rest days. I just coupled it with an equally large glass of water. Best recovery 'shake' ever!

"Complete control." You're so funny! :D It is good to do all we can, though. "Life is what happens while we're making our plans."

Thanks for the comments you all! You are all awesome! I wish I could do the high carbs to help with lifting but I messed up my insulin sensitivity over the past 20 something years with a regime of no exercise, poor diet and an unhealthy lifestyle. I really don’t miss the carbs though. I feel so much better all the time now without the sugary carb crashes. I have eaten over 1000 calories today and my blood sugar is a cool 96. I am kicking pre-diabetes in the booty!

You'll get this in hand and then you can start playing with using your natural insulin for gains. That's what I'm looking at right now. (I think I'm scaring Chad.) :)
