ohiogirl63's Journal, 04 February 2014

Just had my husband measure me. The last time I measured was 6/8/13. In that length of time I gained 10 pounds and 36 inches! Today is where I start over. Making sure that I go back to the rules. I followed them completely when I first had my surgery. I was successful when I did that. So I need to put my mind in the same gear as then. I hope I can get back there.

Today was pretty good. Very little water drank tho. I have a goal of drinking half my body weight in water. Protein shakes tasted very good. Like going home. :)

Have to figure out what kind of exercise routine I'm going to do. Would like to walk for a half hour to an hour. I need something that my husband and I can do together.

I would like to lose 2 to 3 pounds a week for the first 10 to 15 weeks. Reaching my goal by the end of the year would be outstanding. But I'll take whatever comes my way. Starting today, I have to get back to where I was when I first started my weight loss for my surgery. Hope I can do it.

I find that logging everything I eat on this site really helps, and do not take the calorie expenditure too seriously here...it tends to overestimate drastically, at least for me. Getting buddies here and supporters on here is terrific. Buffy Bear is having a weight loss challenge to see how much weight we can all lose by Easter. If you want to be buddies, you can get in on that. I find that having a goal really helps when there are others in on it with you. Another thing I do that really helps me is not taking any "cheat" days or days off. When you want it badly enough, there are no days offs. No food rewards. I find rewards in things other than food now. If I continue to think of food as a reward, I'll never change. My favorite saying now is, "I'm not a dog, so I don't reward myself with food." Hang in there and keep coming back here -- it works!

Thanks for the encouragement. I agree about the days off. It doesn't work for me either. I puts me in the mindset to take off that next day. When I was successful I would give my self a couple of bites of something. That was enough. Have to get back to that.

You certainly have the right mindset and commitment towards reaching your goals. And it's also a plus that you and your husband will be doing this together. Keeping the motivation is very important and having someone join you in this journey is definitely a plus! =) This site really helps a lot too. From tracking your food intake and exercise routine to just airing out your triumphs or, at times, frustrations. People here are very supportive and encouraging and that really helps a lot too! I hope you find this site as helpful as I have and may we all enjoy this journey and reach our goals! =)
