The Love of Fit's Journal, 27 January 2014

Well numbers are in - 138lbs, 36,28,33,37 1/2. My measurements are the same but I gained 3lbs?! Really? I know I wasn't good this weekend but honestly, I didn't think I was that bad. My week was great, I've been eating so much better, having more produce in the house. I don't understand. I've been going to the gym once-twice a day, mixing intervals, intense cardio and lifting. I'm just so defeated.
I can't begin to explain how low this feels. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong and why all my friends aren't paying attention, but they're staying so thin. I'm back up to my college weight and I've changed so much. I have no idea what to do and I feel like I just wasted my time being so concerned over something I clearly can't change.

Consistency is key with weight loss. When you go on and off plan, you end up gaining and losing the same few pounds over and over. Some of what you gained may be water weight too. Some things for you to think about. Are you tracking all you food honestly? Studies show people who track their food lose more weight than those who don't. It also shows people eat 30% more than we think we do when we track. When you slack with tracking, you may be overeating more than you think (which means up and down the same few pounds). Are you drinking water? Water flushes out sodium and keeps things moving. Are you getting enough lean protein, lean dairy, fruits and veggies? Processed foods contain a lot of sodium and cause water retention. Are you being active? Exercise helps burn calories, lose fat and keeps your heart healthy. You might try being strict during the week and giving yourself more leeway on the weekend. The weekend also offers you more time to get activity in to counter act the nights out with friends. Many thin people eat moderately. You gotta play around with calories to see what will work for you.

Get a scale that measures body fat. I bet your muscle mass has increased and body fat decreased so you may weigh more but the gym work is working. Forget about everyone else. Do this for you.
