Nutritionists say saturated fats increase health risks if you consume too much over a long period of time. A large intake of saturated fats will eventually raise cholesterol levels, which can lead to cardiovascular disease and possibly stroke, says the American Heart Association8. Here is a good article on fats: http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/141442.php It explains how fats are important to our health. But saturated fats over a long period of time can cause health problems. There are good fats that are important to the body (avocados, peanut butter, etc.)

Anyone that has watched FatHead or read the actual studies know most information given to you about fats is incorrect. The studies that show fats including trans fat and saturated fat to be bad were altered by deleting all the studies that disagreed with what they wanted to push ie bad fats and there are a lot of studies that show how all of the fats play roles in good health. As a starter watch youtubes Fat Head video by Gravitas Ventures start it around 53:30 for info on saturated fats. Saturated fats are not bad and are needed for the body.

Too much of anything over a long period of time is probably not good for anyone. If you have a history of heart disease in the family, then you may have to watch it. Some people can eat lot's of fat all their life and have no problems, but others can have huge problems. It's an individual thing.
