Today is pizza day in the kiosk. Pizza is my nemesis. However, I was not the least bit tempted today. Perhaps it's because I'm ready to make the jump to the half-way point in my Run/Walk program tonight - Walk 3 minutes/Run 3 minutes; Repeat 5X for total of 30 minutes with warmup of 5 minutes before and after. Weigh-in on Friday. Not expecting miracles; if I hold what I had, after this last Sunday's feed, I will consider the week a success.

DW made spaghetti last night, and I swear it was the best she has ever made. I always eat two heaping plates; only one heaping plate last night. :D What is wrong with me? What if I died today; I would have passed on that second plate for nothing! Ever feel like that? It's like, if we don't eat until we can't eat anymore, we've missed out on some of the meal we could have savored, but didn't. I've got to get past that way of thinking. I haven't missed out on anything - except more fat, high blood pressure, difficulty breathing, and guilt afterwards.

Oh BTW, for dog lovers that want to give their dogs a treat that has zero fat (which my dog requires), try plain puffed rice cakes. I got a bag of saucer sized puffed rice cakes, and the dog loves them. 30 calories. I brought two to work myself. I thought they would be tasteless, but I actually found them quite good. Of course, you guys know that I make my dog dehydrated chicken jerky and sweet potatoes, but this is something you can buy right off the shelf that is good for both of you - unless of course you're on the Atkins plan - but your dog probably isn't. Toodles!

Do you eat yours with spaghetti squash? Also have you tried the cauliflower pizza yet? Makes me giggle to see you sharing treats with your dog. :) My Dad tries a bit of the dog treats he buys before he gives it to his doggie. He says if I won't eat it why would I want to feed it to her. I will have to give my Dad this suggestion. They both might like it better.

Hi DK! I know exactly what you mean. It happens to me in restaurants, "what if I never get back here again. I've got to stuff myself with all this yummy food." It's really hard to put those thoughts to rest. I bought some low sodium plain rice cakes (30 calories) but have been afraid to eat them. Cardboard? I guess I need to give them a try. Have a great day and awesome job with the pizza!

I eat rice cakes.... We can get salt and vinegar flavoured ones.... I love them with very light philladephia cheese spread (not sure if you get that over there), I sometimes put a slice of wafer thin ham on, or half a teaspoon on mango chutney. Yummy :-)

Sk1nny, leave it to you to turn a rice cake into a gourmet delight! Sounds pretty good. Iamachristianjesusfreak, can I call you something for short? That's a lot of typing whenever I want to respond to a comment. It just doesn't feel right calling you Jesus. :) I have tried the spaghetti squash and liked it; we actually had a round of conversation going on here once about that. I also love the acorn squash, but have to have that with the brown sugar and margarine. Teskandar, I think mine must have some salt on it because it does have some flavor other than cardboard.

I love rice cakes too. There are all different kinds. Wonder what that says about me and Pam. You're kicking butt on food and exercise, DK. I am so inspired.

King, I know how you feel. We LOVE those 2nd helpings, or the larger portions - simply because the food is so damn good. Pizza is my nemesis too. I'm glad they don't really make chocolate pizza. I'd be doomed. lol.

Just call me freak I am fine with that. Never had acorn squash gonna have to find that one to try.

Good job! I'm right there with you on the spaghetti! Only I make it about 3 times worse because I HAVE to have buttered/lightly toasted bread with it and I make a spaghetti sandwich. Yeah.... we can't do spaghetti in my house too often. Which sucks because I freakin LOVE IT!!!!

I'm with you on the chocolate pizza, King. . . But I think they call that a chocolate pie. LOL!

That's hilarious, Terry! I have to admit that I have been known to scoop up spaghetti between pieces of French bread myself.

Yummm I am hooked on spaghetti squash. But, before I was never as crazy about pasta as most people... I just never have a desire for pasta itself just the sauces proteins and veggies, so the squash is better in my opinion! Glad you found an easy treat for your dog that you don't have to make yourself, I'm sure they love rice cakes! Mine got plain chicken and broccoli last night left over from dinner... spoiled!

Dianne, sometimes we do likewise from the table for the pooch, if the dish isn't fried and has no fat. Sometimes though, we'll take something he's not particularly fond of and put it on the table, so he thinks he's getting something special and then he gobbles it right up. He hasn't caught on yet. :)

My dog won't touch the rice cakes, silly girl, BUT, I need the recipe on how to cook chicken jerky, I have a dehydrator I never use... I haven't had spaghetti in years, have a plate for me!

Lizzy, here's the recipe. Very simple. Take skinless chicken breast (or remove skin from chicken breast). Buy boneless (or remove bone and cartilage from chicken breast). The key to chicken jerky or any jerky for that matter is - remove the fat. Fat goes rancid. That's the most important step. You don't have to get fancy here, just slice the meat so it isn't more than about a 1/4 inch thick, and at least 3/4" wide. (I like to cut 1/2" thick strips about 1" wide and butterfly them; it looks cool). Put them on a dehydrator tray spread out so they're not touching, and if your dehydrator has a temp control, put it on 145. If no temp control, don't worry about it. Put the cover on the dehydrator, and turn it on. They should be good to go in about 12 hours. I don't put any seasoning on them at all. They even taste good to me. Test to see if they're done by bending them; if they snap, they're great. They can be a little less well done if you keep them in the fridge and use them that month. Otherwise, put them in a freezer bag in the freezer. It's really very simple to do once you've done it once.

BTW; sweet potatoes are even easier. Exactly the same, except all you do is peel the sweet potatoes, make them in 1/4 in thick strips and dehydrate them. If you have a temp control, do them at 135F. They make good people snacks too - very nutritious and non-fattening.

OMG... Those sweet potatoes in the dehydrator sound yummy. I have been looking at them for about 2 years and debating whether to take the plunge and buy one.
07 Feb 13 by member: Sk1nnyfuture
BTW, Sk1nny, the sweet potatoes will dehydrate in about 3/4 the time that the chicken does.
07 Feb 13 by member: DairyKing
do you cook the sweet potato first?
07 Feb 13 by member: Lizzygracemusic
Nope; don't cook anything before you dehydrate it; you'd lose all that nutritional value. That's the beauty of it. In 5 minutes you can have enough prepared for a month. I just buy the biggest sweet potatoes I can buy. I use one of those vegetable peelers to skin it. Then I cut the potato in half (so it's half as long), place the 1/2 of it on the flat side I just cut and slice down every 1/4 inch. Then I take all those slices and cut them 1/2 inch or so wide, so I have 1/4" thick by 1/2", and then do the same with the other half, and put them on the tray.
