This will be longer than usual, but I hope you will stay with me. HOORAY!!! I lost THREE pounds this week, bringing my 13-week total down from 258.8 to 235.8 (a total of 22 pounds)! That's the most I've lost in a single week so far.
Also, I have moved from Stage III "Morbidly Obese" (BMI over 40) to the middle of Obese Stage II (BMI 35-39.9). When I get down to 223 I'll be in Obese Stage I. Have to get under 200 pounds (191) to move into being "just" Overweight.
My 13 weeks just happened to fall almost perfectly into the Summer season. I started June 23 and completed the "quarter" on 9/26. My average weight loss has been 1-3/4 pounds a week. My daily caloric intake for the whole period averages to 1,637/day with my highest weekly average being 1,791 in Week #3 and lowest being 1,515 this past week, Week #13.
Thanks to eating Butter Beans every evening, I have achieved my Fiber goal of over 20g/day almost every single day. Also, I have gotten in at least 8 cups of water every day (except one day). I have logged my food every day. Weighed every day. Journaled my victories and defeats every day. Kept my RDI below 2,000 every single day. I have limited my Diet Coke to "just" three 12-oz cans a day (with 3-4 exceptions in the 91 days).
I'm not saying all this to be bragging. God knows (and so do I) that without His empowerment I would not have been able to do any of it. I thank God that "When I am weak, He is strong!"
Having completed the Summer "semester," I'm excited to be moving into the Fall. This truly is a learning experience for me, thus the school analogy. Just this week, I have learned that what starts out to be my worst week ever, with the most temptation to blow it, can turn out to be the BEST week of all. I have learned that I can have the high-caloric things I crave (creme brulee, snack-size candy, Pecan Pancakes) if I make other concessions in my food plan on those days, or overall during that week.
I will admit that I am a little apprehensive about the Thanksgiving season. I need to start thinking of it as "Thanksgiving Day," not SEASON. If I plan very low calorie intake at the beginning of that week, I can enjoy all the favorites (in moderate portions) on that day and possibly the day after.
My RDI goal is to keep my daily intake below 2,000 calories, but my weekly average in the 1,500's to 1,600's. In this past quarter, I had three days that were in the 1,700's, which was ok for THEN, because my goal was just to stay under 1,800 calories average. Now, the goal is to stay under 1,700 average each week.
I think that the most important thing I have done to get success (besides praying) was to log everything I ate. "If You Bite It, WRITE IT" is the first mini-goal in the Daily Accountability challenges I administrate each week. Having a kitchen scale is crucial to accurate recording. I weigh my food in grams for the most accuracy.
Today is the start of a new week and this week is the beginning of a new season. Let's all Rock This!
