I seriously haven't logged onto this site in over 2 years? Whoops. I will admit, I did start using MyFitnessPal. I do like their app better, but I like this site because it exposes me to more people (not just the people I intentionally add).

I was doing so well in 2012/2013. I had managed to lose quite a bit of weight, I think from 330 pounds to 293.

2014 really wasn't my year. It started off well. I was still dieting/exercising on a daily basis, but in March I was in an automobile accident. I don't want to use that as an "excuse" but it set me back big time! I injured both my neck and back. I basically fell off the wagon from March-December. No exercise. No dieting. Needless to say, I gained 68 pounds. Wow! That's over 20% weight gain!

January 5th, I asked my best friend to get healthy with me. She quickly agreed, and admitted that she had been wanting to do something.

Each day we hold each other accountable via MyFitnessPal app. I see what she eats, and vice versa. We both go walking everyday. It's a start!

I have been doing a ton of research on the gastric bypass surgery. I am coming into some money...and may be able to afford it. But after thorough research, I've concluded what a waste of money it is! The cons definitely outweigh the pros. They still have to diet/exercise...the only difference is, they FEEL physically full whereas, someone without it, doeesn't.

It really is all mental. Soo...I decided I want to experiment. I found
THIS site with detailed prep and the stages after the surgery. I thought to myself, hell I can do this. I don't need to spend $20,000-$30,000 on surgery...that's not even including supplements!

I've read quite a few blogs about personal experiences and most of them wish they hadn't done it. Sure, they were greatful for the initial weight loss, but this was something that would affect the rest of their lives. Some had more problems after their surgery. Like "dumping." If you eat too much or too fast (or even try to consume liquids while you're eating your meal) you will literally have diarrhea and none of those nutrients will be absorbed by your body. Ick. I don't need that problem! Also, there is quite a list of foods that they are unable to consume anymore. It can be quite painful if you overeat and some are hospitalized for various complications.

I've decided, a low carlie-low carb diet is the way to go. I don't intend to starve myself, but it seems like the best option for someone in my shoes. I have about 178 pounds to lose.

I also ran across a wonderful site (click here) that has tips on how to lose excess skin after a significant amount of weight loss.

Whoever is reading this, I thank you for taking the time to do so. This diary entry is more to keep track of my own progress.

I plan to use both MyFitnessPal and FatSecret to keep track of my progress. More updates to come!

29 October 2012

Well since July, I know I've lost 28 pounds so far. I finally went shopping to see what pants size I wear (since my current pants are too baggy). Happy to report, I am down from a size 28 to now a size 24! Feels good to see results. It's a real motivator to keep going. I got engaged recently and we planned our wedding for October 2013. I would absolutely love to lose 100 pounds by then. That means holding myself accountable for my diet/exercise on a daily basis. No excuses, no slacking on the weekends and I need to put my tendency to (cheat) at dinner time in check. My efforts are paying off and to maximize my weight loss, it is time to crack down on areas that I've been too lax on.

It's rather embarassing that I'm nearly 100 pounds heavier than my fiancee. He's a healthy man and I'm working to be even healthier.
