CMR's Journal, 18 August 2014

Not much today, but I've decided to check in. You may notice that I haven't done a weigh in since I've gotten back. The truth is, the 280 is an estimate I came up with right after I got back from Vegas about 7 weeks ago. I have a follow-up physical on Wednesday, at which point I am going to record that weight and use a February weight (same scale) as my starting weight.

I know I've lost weight only because my belt is a loop tighter (where I could barely reach the next belt hole on a good day), and my clothes are much looser. I can go another, but I don't want to be uncomfortable. I fully acknowledge that these typically are excuses when one is on the heavy side, but here's the thing: I bought two shirts without trying them on prior to Vegas, and my wife wouldn't allow me to wear them outside the suite. She said I looked like an overcooked sausage about to burst its casing Gotta love her. She's nothing if not honest...painfully, borderline-offensively, honest.

I've always been told by my medical professionals that you should always use the same scale to measure your weight loss or gain. Are you planning to re-visit the doc in the future after the upcoming visit - on a regular basis to get your weight? It would be like comparing oranges and apples if you are not consistent. My suggestion - take your weight at home that morning before going in to see the doc so you are not tied to getting back to that office to see changes.

Thanks, SaltFree1. Of course it is better to use the same scale, but it will be 52 days since I got back on the horse (with no weigh-in) and the actual time between the two weights will be about 6 months. A pound or two, plus or minus, is not going to de-rail my progress.

Aaaah, but wait until she see's you when you get the weight off! Just stay focused and take it one meal at a time and one day at a time. Have you sat down with a doctor and nutritionist? Might give you some insight as to what way of eating will help with your weight loss plan. You can do it!!!!

@C67241 I've taken off a bit already, but I have a long way to go. I wore one of the shirts last week to a kids' pool birthday party, and the other this past Saturday (in public). I've done this before, but returned to my former habits. So I don't really want to get a swelled head. I will put a number to my progress tomorrow morning.

With your determination you will do fine. Everyday is going to be a fight, but believing in yourself will get you to goal. Don't look at it as "long way to go" Give yourself short goals to attain, and keep making short goals, and before you know it, you will be at goal. Have a great day!!
