Nancilaw's Journal, 29 July 2015

I am keeping my carbs to protein ratio as equal as possible with very low fat intake. My calorie intake is under 900 and yet my outgo is always over 1700. So why am I not losing any weight?
The carbs are in the form of fruits and vegetables and protein powder.
Feeling disappointed.

If you are on the short side (under 5'2"), it's going to be a slow process. And you're also near your goal weight, which definitely makes it harder. Persevere, my dear. Maybe toss around some 3-5 lb. dumbbells to build muscle & strengthen your bones; toning up might be all you really need at this point.

Here's the thing: You cannot expect to see results overnight, or even within a few days. Weight-loss may be as slow as 3 pounds per month. You have GOT to make sure you're eating enough to "fuel the flame" so-to-speak. This means eating as much as you would be comfortable eating for a lifestyle, which, unless you're disabled or a 2-year-old, is going to be more than 900 calories a day. You might be able to lose weight eating so little, but it's going to lead to a binge that will put it on all the quicker. I've been sick here lately and haven't been able to eat as much here lately, but even on total bed-rest sick, I've been eating about 1100 calories a day. It's horrible for your digestion to eat less than 1000 calories a day. You're body will hold onto every morsel you're eating, pulling out all the nutrients it can and you'll find constipation followed by episodes of diarrhea most likely. I don't mean to sound pushy, but real sustainable weight-loss happens when you have enough calories, you move your body, you don't crash-diet, and (in my case) you step off of the scale and focus on how you feel. I've maintained my 50+ pound weight loss for over a year, eating until I'm full and satisfied, listening to my body, and keeping a food journal. I don't focus on calories personally, but I did at the beginning so I can view it as a useful tool.

1lb a week is awesome. At the end of the day its all about Calories in Calories out. So if you consume lets say 2000 Calories and you burned 2500 Calories that day, that means youre at a 500 Caloric Deficit. 3500cal in 1lb. So in 7 days thats 1lb loss. Simple lol
