Agalaxywithin's Journal, 21 August 2017

Well it seems I'be let stress get the best of me and haven't been eating very well for a bit now and it really shows with my blood sugar levels and my HS flares getting worse.

For those who don't know what HS, Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that may be caused by malfunctions in the body’s immune system. You can find more information about it at this website: https://www.nobsabouths.com/what-is-hidradenitis-suppurativa

Being diagnosed with HS is what finally pushed me to go gluten free and dairy free. It's greatly helped lessen the flares I get and I can certainly tell the difference when I slip up and eat some cheese or drink a beer. So I'm certainly feeling the pain from some of my food choices recently, but thankfully today is another day, and it's a new week and I'm just going to try my best again.

I don't tend to share this much. It's not that easy for me since I've been so embarrassed about it all but I feel it's time to let go of that and open up more.
I'm going to journal more often on here, I think it'll help.

Hope everyone has a great Monday and get to enjoy the lunar eclipse today if they can!

oh sister. I too have suffered for years with this. My derm told me to go vegan. Well, i am not sure i can do that. It seems that mine has gone dormant. It might be because of hormones. I am getting older 46. My daughter that is 20 has it as well. I hate to see the sores that she gets it is so miserable. It hurts, its embarrassing. I will pass on to my girl about the gluten and diary. I think she has a lacto problem anyways. best of luck. to you.

I actually know what it is and had major surgery at 16 due to the effects on enlarged sweat glands. Have never in 50 yrs. ever heard someone mention it and had no idea there was any dietary correlations. Interesting. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Hbomb1970-I feel for what your daughter is going through and what you've gone through as well. It's a tough to deal with to say the least, but thankfully there is more information coming out about this and hopefully we'll be closer to finding a cure. In the mean time diet and supplements seem to be the best options on treating this, besides surgery and antibiotics. Everyone is different so some foods may trigger one person and not the other, but for myself and from what I've heard/read from others, cutting gluten and dairy seem to help allot. Also for some cutting out nightshades has helped them as well. Going vegan would be difficult for me as well, I don't think I could do it. I wish you and your daughter best of luck as well.

Thank you paulanavarette. It's a shame it's taken so long for more research and attention to be brought to this. It seems as though this is gaining more and more attention now with so many others speaking out about it. From what I've learned from experience and several forums and support groups, diet plays a big part and making certain changes can help greatly.
