Don't know what's going on and neither does my doc... managed to get down to 310 then weight just started creeping back up and now I can't seem to stay below 328-330. Think I'm the only person in the world that can gain weight on Atkin's induction phase... :(
330.0 lb Lost so far: 4.0 lb.    Still to go: 190.0 lb.    Diet followed 100%.
gaining 0.5 lb a week

Do you track all your food? Very helpful....

Are you staying in your recommended caloric intake? Atkins is still very calorie restricted, if you intake more than you're supposed to you can still gain weight.

Keep trying, and listen on here for advice. Smaller portions and skip some meals. You can do it!

Have you tried Keto? There are calculators out there for your macros. I aim for 5% carb, 20% protein and 75% fat. You can adjust up to even 80% fat and lower the others. For some very insulin resistant folks, getting too much protein can stall weightloss. Counting calories is important too! This is the calculator I use is: http://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/ I have lost 57 lbs in 6 months!

I don't remember calorie counting with Atkins. In fact, it wasn't focused on that at all. Carbs, however, they'll get you Make sure whatever it is you're eating doesn't have hidden carbs in it. Some cheese, for example, says 0 carbs but what they mean is, per serving. Under the USDA something can have .4 carbs per serving (don't remember the exact number) and they can call it 0 for example. So you free feed on the cheese thinking you have no carbs but you do!

Took a tiny peek and I saw cashes on there... that's not in induction... only some veggies. You have to follow the plan exactly or it will fail. Trust me. My husband doesn't eat veggies so he didn't do that part, guess what, he lost NO weight and gained some, like you. I, on the other hand, sucked up the veggies though I hate them too, and lost weight.

Yeah, my mom did Atkins too and didn't count calories either, but caloric intake does count. Atkins diet does mention caloric intake in multiple articles on the Canadian site, might be something to keep in mind. Although you're also very right about Carb Creep. Nothing is 0 carbs. They love to hide carbs in Nitrite rich foods too, so keep your eyes peeled for that buzz word in processed meats.

@Cnith Yes, you have to have foundation vegetables. I tend to eat big salads, broccoli, some mini sweet peppers, and on occasion cherry tomatos. Lots of spinach is really good too. Before I started this diet, I was almost completely vegetarian, although, it's been hard to limit my intake of nuts, and starches like carrots, peas, corn and chickpeas

I have been on Atkins for over a year now, almost a year and a half, and I have never been able to get past the induction phase limit of 20 net grams or less. I try to keep my calorie count below 2000 (although my nutritionist says 2300) and because I'm diabetic I eat small meals every 4 hours.

There must be something odd going on yarnnut34. I haven't seen Atkins not work except when people don't follow it to the letter. Then yeah, it doesn't work. You can still eat small portions every 4 hours but you still have to do it right.

I think it's very hard to tell what might be going on as it looks like you haven't tracked your food on here since December. Do you track it somewhere else? So many times I think I'm within limits but after recording everything, I'm over! Portions start getting bigger, a little extra here and there, and before I know it, I'm off plan wondering what's going on.....

I've been keeping a paper record instead of online lately (my printer died) so I have a record to take to my doctor. HE can't even figure out what's going on :( I'm beginning to think my body has just decided it WANTS to be fat. :( Everything was going great until I hit 50 now it's all going to hell!

I think your body has established a new set point for you and is protecting itself from losing anymore weight. Continue with induction phase and your body will have to respond. When I was losing I kept my carbs right at 20-25 and also my calories at 1200-1500. I know Atkins says not to count calories, but this is what worked for me. You don't want to be eating a pound of bacon because there is just too many calories to ignore even if the carb count is low.

Never give up - I will be 61 years old in May and I lost weigh and continue to lose - very slowly - but it does move. Age is only a number!

I confess too...like Rckc and Rguarino tracking EXACTLY everything you eat and also weighing, measuring portions until you have a handle on portion size is extremely important for knowing where your calories are coming from. I was consistantly "forgetting" and underestimating my fuel input before this, and had no idea about food macros and their importance to diet. Now it's second nature and relatively easy with the phone app, IPad and computer. Good luck!!
