Went to Oxbow on the river today and had salmon (which i dont like but know is good for me) puréed potato’s and roasted baby carrots, squash and zucchini. Delicious (except salmon but i ate half). I also had 1/2 a caramel sundae and an amazing salad. No idea how many calories but way too many so not logging any of it just chalking it up to a great dinner with my little kid. I dont eat out much but boy was it fun. Saw waiter carrying warming brandy decanted over steaming water and for just a minute wished i could order it, but i dont as hubs is sober and i love him. Wish i could as easily not eat unhealthy foods for me as quickly as i think about having a nice glass of brandy and then shelf it. Wonder why that is differently shelved in my brain. Hubs says he doesnt care if i want to have a drink but i think how uncaring it would be of me for him to smell that so its just a hard no for me.

When I go out to eat, which isn't often, I get what I want! I don't like salmon either but have had it only a few times. It's not bad if someone else cooks it. I'm going to Red Robin later this week and was looking at the menu, including desserts!

only half the sundae wow thats some self control right there! I'm sure your husband genuinely wouldn't care in the slightest if you wanted to enjoy a drink. I know it wouldn't bother me at all of my wife did. glad you had a nice meal out with the family

Otb we are going on 18 years together and i have always felt the same way about drinking with regards to hubs. The only exception is if im traveling without him and the last time i did that was in Dallas about 12 years ago can you believe that? lol. My point to myself is why cant i view unhealthy food or at least unhealthy portions in the same way. My daughter is the one that got me to stop with the sundae. She asked me if i was full and if i was enjoying it or if my tummy was going to hurt. I was sooooo full. I didnt eat all day just that one meal to make room for the calories i knew were coming which isn’t probably the best way to go about that.

Fritzy, it’s so rare i will get a dessert when im out. Im so conscious of the monster that lives in my brain with regard to sugar but i did have such a fantastic time.

Sounds like a nice dinner with your daughter! I get the not logging the meal. I know you will regroup asap. It's ok to have a treat meal once in awhile 💜💜

I feel the same way about salmon. There must be some way I would like it! Your meal sounded good. Hubby didn't drink and I ended up quitting. He was like your hubby but I don't need those empty calories.

I wondered the same thing about how easy it is to give up “substances” but struggle so terribly with not over eating snacks/ deserts ect Sugar is just so addictive
