New food defense tactic as I'm literally surrounded at work by cakes, cookies, cheesecake, chocolates, pastries, etc. There only place free from temptations is the bathroom! So I cut off a tiny piece of a couple of things, swished it around my mouth for a few seconds to get the taste then spit it out without swallowing. Maybe I absorbed a few calories from mouth residue but can't be much and it gave me the taste, satisfied the longings and keeps the carb monster at bay. Now I'm good to go on as planned.

I'm looking forward to this evening, we'll be taking my oldest daughter's family with two of our grandsons to see a huge light display, about 3 1/2 miles of it through a nearby state park. They do a great job and the boys should enjoy it.

Way to go Jim, that is why I work in the basement of my building no windows kind of like a mushroom, haha no temptations from all of the junk upstairs. Also a mint really helps because when someone offers you just tell them oh I just put a mint in my mouth sorry

NM - Hopefully not swallowing it clears me from being bulimic. I told a co-worker it's like being a taster of fine wines....smell it, put it in the mouth, swish it around then spit it out.

That's so funny and while it may not make you bulimic or someone with an eating disorder you done such a great job a small reward and a couple of days of extra work sounds like a more practical plan

Just avoid going to work! :) Okay, maybe not, but see what I mean about everyone gifting each other with carb creations, and then the recipients hauling it all to the office to get rid of it? I wish people would gift each other with fruit & nut baskets or gift certificates instead.

I had a coworker bring a Reeses nutrageous to my desk.

Jparlett, that's just mean lol. "I know you love me but love me a little less?" :) Reeses are hard to say no to

I TOTALLY pictured the wine-taster scenario and was going to post just that, but you beat me to it . . . I like your 'strategy' and admire your willpower to execute it!

When did you turn BLUE, BTW?!! Well done!!

Great job! I used a couple of drops of the liquid breath mint thingy to kill the carb monster when I was trying to get into ketosis.

Well....if it was an actual fine wine tasting I would NOT be spitting it out! I never understood that, I guess it's so the taster maintains clear thinking and isn't affected by the alcohol as they taste more wines? Losintit1655 the blue was within the last week. If I can maintain that color with my weigh in after the holidays I'll be pleased....and surprised. We'll see.

Words of advice to all those who have not been to Napa/Sonoma Valley for wine tastings: you do NOT spit anything out. No one here on FS is paid to rate wines, thus needing to stay sober while doing a blind taste test of 50 new releases. At a vineyard, a bartender will pour a shotglass amount into a wine glass; if you do not finish your tasting, you pour the remainder from your glass into the "spit bucket" (which is a nice vase).
