When my doctor told me to go on the DASH Diet because my blood pressure was high during my yearly physical, as a post menopausal woman I was concerned about the low amount of protein recommended. I found a higher protein version on the Heart Association website which I adopted in my daily macros. Even though when I returned for my follow up appointment two weeks later after tracking my blood pressure daily I found that it was white coat syndrome, I decided to do the diet anyway. My macros this week were perfect! ❣️

At one point I thought I had White Coat Syndrome but I don't now. I probably had "wrong diet for me" syndrome because when my new doctor changed it a lot of my problems went away. My BP at the doctor is normal now. It still surprises me. I thought when I stopped following my doctor's diet to the letter it would go back up but it didn't. I wish I could get my macros where I want them and keep them that way!!

The only way I can keep my protein where it's supposed to be is with protein powder, which consumes 120 precious calories a day, and makes it all but impossible to use the restroom. 😔 Ugh, I have no trouble staying in my calories usually, but macros are the bane of my existence.

@gigi add some Metamucil it will balance out the protein powder and drink water before the shake and after.

Gigi, if you look at my food diary you will see that I make my own green smoothie every day for lunch. I use unflavored collagen peptides (80 calories and 19 grams of protein) and a lot of times I also add egg white protein powder for extra protein (it is fat free!). I also include psyllium husk powder for extra fiber.

Good for you! It really is a balancing act (no pun intended). I'm impressed! I feel so much better with my 40/30/30 numbers. Just takes a little practice.
