mattstoc's Journal, 10 April 2015

Tomorrow morning is my 3rd 5k since I started exercising, eating properly (for the most part), and getting into shape. It has only been 2 months since I last did a 5k/fun run. I am fairly motivated when I do these, so it is a good chance to check my pace against relatively consistent factors (races are on Sat, morning, North Texas (so flat)).

I had a nice motivational boost yesterday when I picked up my race packet. I only needed an XL shirt - no more XXL. I am not far from the Large. I am tall and broad shouldered so I will likely not drop below the Large.

Y'all have a great day. Get out and go out and do something right now. I am going to walk my block.

Wow--you are doing wonderful! I wish I could get back into running. I like to run with a group, but I've been out of it so long, that I'd be embarrassed to even attempt it. LOL. Good Luck with your race. I think I should put a race on my Bucket List.

Good Luck. I know for a fact that I couldn't run, even if my life depended on it!

Thanks all. Jill - do it and don't be embarrassed. I don't think I have met one person at these fun runs who has been snide or dismissive because I was over weight. Everyone has been over the top in being supportive. The other thing I always remind people - by just really trying to change our lives we are doing better than probably 90% of the population. Most people say they want to change, but don't do anything. We ARE doing something. So get out there and do it. Even if you have to just walk the 1k fun run, you should go. You will be motivated and you will get a t-shirt (ha).

Good luck today Matt. Your setting a nice pace & example for all of us to follow! (Chariots of Fire music playing in the background.) Blaze the trail brother, blaze the trail!
