It will get better! You can do it. Just stick to it. Remind yourself why you are doing it...and if possible take a nap. You can't be crabby or smoke while you are sleeping. Your body will adjust and so will you. I found that I had an incredible amount of time on my hands when I quit years and years ago. Find something to fill in that time otherwise boredom sets in and then you want to eat or smoke...UGH!! Maybe put an exercise app on your phone and when you want to smoke run through the app. I have a 7 minute app on my phone. It's just long enough to be effective but not too long that I am not motivated to do it. Wish it would have been around when I was quitting but that was almost 15 years ago.

Quit on Black Friday 2000 - I celebrate each day that I don't kill anyone. (lol) Recommendations - If you already walk a mile a day - bump it up to 2, if you already take a Yoga, Zumba, etc. class - add another. As for the oral gratification; my Dad used to chew on whole cloves (yes the dried ones in the spice aisle at the grocery store) bleh! Me - I unfortunately went with Jolly Ranchers hard candies, and gained 80 lbs - so I encourage you to find something no calorie/low calorie. I was already walking 2+ miles a day, working 2 jobs, & dating, so don't let your current level of activity be enough. The pounds sneak on you, while you're congratulating yourself for being smoke free another day - so DONT SMOKE, but DO SOMETHING PHYSICAL. Stay away from your usual haunts where you usually light up. For me driving was the hardest...still haven't killed anyone (yet - he he he).

That would be the best you could do for yourself! I gave up the habit in 2011 when my family and I returned to the US. Decided it was time for a change. You can kick the butts!

I quit in Dec 14, 1999. My hubby and I both did. We did Welbruton, it leaves you with a horrible taste in your mouth when you smoke. Then to cut down, we watched the clock. Day one we could have one every 15 mins, then day two every 30 mins, adding 15 mins each day until you are at one or two a day and then you can lay them down. The Welbruton keeps you from having cravings and gaining weight, plus it is an anti depressant and so you aren't stressing. Even if you don't choose to do some type of help, just paying attention and watching the clock, can help you cut down without going cold turkey. Good luck.

As for the oral fixation, I would get a couple of extra stir straws when we were at the truck stop, ( every place that sells coffee pretty much has them, and chew on them, that way I wasn't adding anymore calories, but still had something to do.
