johnmarth's Journal, 09 December 2014

just bought a new scale and found that my old scale was 5 pounds lite so i was reading at 185 pounds when i was actually 190 so the new weigh in will mess up my chart. my start weight also was 215 not 210.
also found my body fat percentage to be 12.7 percent which is considered borderline underfat for my age group so am questioning whether i should continue with my weight loss as i have found to be at a very low body fat percentage. although 190 is considered slightly overweight for my height my bodyfat percentage indicated at the lowest bodyfat percentage for a normal person.

Once the body runs out of fat, it starts burning muscle.

from my calculations men are not supposed to go under 6percent and normal body fat is15-20 percnt for men so i think i need to just stay on my low fat diet but normal protein, carbs and calories because 12.7 percent body fat is already in the leanest competitive althletic males 6-13 percent. if i were to get to 6 percent body fat i would have to lose only 10 more pounds of fat so that is the absolute most that i can lose 10 more pound of fat and don't want to be just skin, muscle and bones.

i underestimated my desired weight i was using height weight charts which i have found to be just guides, the real issue is body fat percentage not bmi charts or outdated height weight charts. so according to my body fat percentage i only need to drop 10 more pounds of fat to be at 6 percent body fat which i don't want to be at so i should put my new target weight at 185.

The science of BMI is sketchy. Athletes show up as obese.

correction my lowest weight at 6percent body fat is 173 pounds don't want to go that low it would be my lowest weight new target is 173-180. right now hovering around 189 at 12.7-16 percent body fat depending on time of day, hydration levels, and highest body fat after eating a meal.

once you drop below 6 percent body fat you are eating into essential internal body fats surrounding the organs and that is not recommended and is considered unhealthy.

i changed my new target weight of 173 that would put me at 6 percent body fat if in theory only 17 lbs of fat was lost from my current weight of 190lbs

but i'm more realistically looking at 180 with around 10 percent body fat 10 more pound of fat loss.
